someone please explain (spoilers)

So in the end she shoots the psycho mom and the blond guy laying on the floor? There was no reason to shoot either one, was there? The psycho had her hands in the air surrendering, and the guy was stabbed and looked pretty helpless. So why did she shoot either one of them? Did I miss something? Is she really like a psycho vigilante too?

Calvin shot Rebecca while he was laying on the ground. You can see him holding the gun when Sheriff Tobin shoots him.

But Rebecca stabbed Calvin in the neck first with the scissors! I don't know exactly what happened next but that dumbass redhead cop starting shooting everyone!

This movie is garbage and just like the daughter we should pretend it never existed!

the cop did NOT shoot the mom...she only shot Calvin. This was a reaction to Calvin shooting Rebecca.

After Calvin and Rebecca's scuffle, and the cop came in, and seemingly had things under control...Calvin grabbed the gun and shot Rebecca. Before Calvin could do any more damage, the cop shot him, and only him.

I JUST watched that scene, and it is very clear that the COP shot Rebecca.

An insiders perspective - I directed the film and the intention was that Calvin did shoot Rebecca. Unfortunately with TV movies you often need to edit the entire movie in 4 weeks. We did not have time to test it on an audience before it was given to Lifetime, which is probably why we didn't realize that it wasn't clear.

For what it's worth, these are the things I think indicate that Calvin shot Rebecca:
- There is a muzzle flash BEHIND Rebecca where you see her from behind, meaning the shot came from in between Calvin and Rebecca
- The exit wound on Rebecca shows blood squirting out from the front, which would mean the bullet hit from the back
- When Rebecca falls, Calvin is holding the gun (the same gun he put on the table earlier, that incidentally is Kelly's gun)
- Sheriff Tobin responds to the shooting in a panic by turning to shoot Calvin
- Why would Sheriff Tobin shoot Rebecca? I know there are a lot of crazy things that happen in the movie, but that would be way beyond the realm of what the Sheriff would do in the world of this movie.

In the next movie, we will make sure to test it before it hits your TV screen. Perhaps this thread will help get that done.

Hi Oren, what an honor to have the director chatting with us! I really liked this movie! It was interesting and exciting, and I was glad to see a Lifetime movie starring an older actress (Lori Loughlin). Lifetime seems to be only interested in making movies about teens, but us folks over 30 like Lifetime movies too.
My only suggestion is that on the dvd version, you should include a closeup of the boy shooting the gun when Lori Loughlin is shot. (If you still have access to the raw footage.) Other than that- WELL DONE! GREAT JOB! =D

Thank you. Thank you so much. For everything. And yes, things getting better is ALWAYS a good thing. 

An insiders perspective - I directed the film...

While it is unlikely you'll read this in the next 6 days or any other director will do so, I'll offer a suggestion- hire a current or retired cop for technical advice when portraying cops.

The sheriff's actions were grossly incompetent and caused the deaths of both suspects. Real cops under the circumstances shown would not go in by themselves, they would radio the other deputy. They would handcuff the male until the circumstances could be determined. Not enough drama? The male could go for a gun while one of them was trying to handcuff them, and then they could justifiably shoot him, or the female could have attacked him after they handcuffed him. A similar scenario took place at the end of Lethal Weapon as a suspect was being handcuffed.

Ignoring politics doesn't mean politics will ignore you.

it is very clear to me that you are wrong...again, using my reasoning from the above post

Thanks! It makes some sense now.
