I'm watching it right now. Never even heard of it until I stumbled on it by turning on HBO tonight. I love it. This is great.

well...it starts as one thing then towards the end the true point of the documentary and the reporter's intent is revealed...it's another blame Bush for everything and show that the American government is evil...this documentary didn't really have anything to do with Al-Qaeda...it was a way to make excuses for terrorist acts by giving their actions legitimacy by claiming they have been given no choice but to react violently...it's another way of saying that the Islamic extremists have zero responsibility for their actions and somebody else is always to blame.

Plus this guy seemed really intent on connecting everything to his movie to prove how much of a genius he is...just another pompous ego trip by an elitist who likes to talk down to people

he should rename this "Why Al-Qaeda Had No Choice" because that's what he's saying

Islamic extremists should totally be held accountable for their actions. The same however could be said for our actions. You sir completely missed the point of the movie.

Did you and I watch the same documentary? Just because you think you've found the secret subplot of the whole movie does not negate what was straight forwardly presented to you. This movie had a whole lot do to with how Al-Qeada was formed and came to power.

"it was a way to make excuses for terrorist acts by giving their actions legitimacy by claiming they have been given no choice but to react violently"

So suddenly it is about Al-Qaeda? You support your thesis very poorly. This documentary was about cause and effect / action and reaction. Some people are not content with just accepting that they are hated or attacked. Others are curious and would at least like to understand. You seem to fall in the former category.

If you want to see a movie telling you how awesome what you believe in is, go rent GI Joe. In that case re-examining and understanding your own beliefs is clearly not for you.

Well said, Billy. It's fellow Americans like this that really grind my gizzard. You present them facts and they shrug them off as offensive, or beside the "real" point. Which of course they make up to suit their own agenda. "Well I'm not going to listen to you and your "facts" because I'M right!" It is sad.

This whole movie makes the assumption that all fundamental islamists can be labeled as Al-Qaeda even when the whole concept of Al-CIAda was sold to us as an organized crime group with very ambiguous connections to various governments. The ugly truth that was subconsciously fed to us is that this is entirely a modern crusade and a modern day holy war, for both sides of the conflict. The logic used to invade and destroy to nations was entirely flawed. 19 hijackers (every single one of which was from Saudi Arabia and departed from there) attacked us on september 11th 2001 so we had to invade Afghanistan because that was where their mastermind leader was supposedly hiding and that it took 10 years for the most militarily powerful nation in the world to find and kill their leader in another country but no evidence at all has been presented to the american people to prove that they killed Osama Bin Laden. Not one photo has been released and his body was promptly dropped into the ocean to never be seen again shortly after his death. The men who allegedly killed him were "tragically" shot down in a bizarre helicopter crash shortly after the raid on his compound and several books have been written to reinforce the idea that they killed Osama bin laden. The propaganda is immense and biased, in a world where most people didn't even know that there was a third tower that collapsed suspiciously on 9/11 (WTC Building 7) people continue to wrap them selves in their flags of ignorance and patriotism to "fight to good fight" against the evil and ambiguous Al-Qaeda(Islam) There's never been a time where was more proud not to be an American. Don't even get me started on Iraq's (weapons of mass destruction lie) and the medias biased Pro-war agenda. The world needs to stand up as a whole and say "Your illegal and unjustified wars of aggression have killed so many people that you are actually creating your own enemies and perpetuating your own fears" I will thank god the day that america falls from its graces and destroys itself from within like every massive military empire in history, i just hope they don't take the whole world with them by launching all of their ICBM's in the process.
