Gutted it's cancelled

I'm gutted. .. I really hope we'd see them.move out and have a baby or two. But maybe that's been their downfall. What I don't get is why so many people have come on to applaud it bring cancelled... just stop sodding watching if it's that bad for you.

I will miss it.. needed a bit of a shake up but I absolutely bloody loved the cast.

I'm sad. I assumed it wouldn't last indefinitely because Melissa McCarthy is such a big star now, but I assumed it had a full season this year. I was looking forward to seeing it back.

Alright, going to blow you away with some information. This is an open forum where people voice their opinions. Not a circle jerk because some people like it. You can ignore the ones you disagree with instead of acting like a child because everyone isn't worshiping the show.

I only watched it a few times. It was okay, but, my dad really liked it. To the fans of the show, I'm sorry it was canceled. It was better than a lot of stuff on tv these days. I just got a gutting moment earlier this year when one of my favorite shows (Or at this point, maybe my top favorite) got canceled, so I know how you feel. There is a petition for it to be ressurected by another network or Netflix, maybe someone could petition Netflix for this show as well... Unless the actors don't want to do it anymore. Nine times out of ten petitions don't change things, but it has a few times. And hey, if Unforgettable can be uncanceled two or three times (now picked up by a different network), then anything is possible.

Melissa is the main reason for the cancelation of the show. Her schedule is pretty full of movies. It will probably rerun for years. The Mom turned in to kind of a bitchy mood killer.

reply

I agree. Melissa (Molly) is the main focus. And most agree she's the lest likable character. If you had the series with everyone else, it'd be a hit show. But Molly ties Mike's side to Molly's side of characters. And Melissa seems to run things, like writing and airtime.

reply

She has said she's upset about it. It wasn't her idea. They've obviously worked around her.

This is not true. She said she was blindsided, one of the last to know.

Stars are often not honest about these things.

reply

....and you know this as a fact about
stars, because you know so many stars ..right?

What would she have to gain by lying about it? Or any of them?

I love this show too but it's been pretty obvious to me since Mike 7 Molly wedded, that it wouldn't last a lot longer. That was the one big mistake, they should have married in Season 5, not 3.

I have a separate statement to make ,so I'll put it in an all new thread.

She is expected to give a statement after the show's cancellation is announced. If she saids it was because of her that it got cancelled she would get a huge backlash. So it could have been a little white lie so people would not hate her, surely she would not have been the only reason the show got cancelled but she would have gotten all the blame. And it is understandable if she would want to do quit playing this role after so many years when there is many other projects she could do,

This does not mean that I am right but people in the entertainment industry are never 100% honest, and I do not know you do not think this is a possibility.

She said she didn't want it cancelled and that they said her weight loss was the reason why. That made no sense to me as they highlighted Billy's weight loss of 50 pounds during the series, plus she was still chubby. (She actually looks better a little chubby as she has more dimples in her cheeks which is her greatest facial feature.)

I remember watching her at one weight at the start, then noticing she really gained weight at one point and then by the end she was thinner but they never seemed to focus on it like they did with Billy (Mike).

One thing I found interesting was that she usually wore a belt under her boobs where I guess her waist is? It really made her look slimmer than just a shapeless long top which is what I usually wear. I'm gonna buy a couple of belts and experiment now.

Only watched this show in reruns this starting late last year. Really enjoyed all six season. Dysfunctional family on both sides but all characters were lovable. Took a while to love Ronda Reed's character (mama Peggy) but Molly started loving her and then she showed her vulnerable side and it made it easier. Loved the bawdiness of the characters. Really enjoyed Vince even though when he first showed up, I wasn't interested. But again, he showed a vulnerable side (wanted to be a hairdresser, Tints by Vince).

Loved the ending but yes, it could have gone on. (Though, how would it work with two babies, weed and wine, lots of sex, etc., don't know.)

Instead of this show maybe CBS should have canceled that abomination of a show called Two Broke Girls. Might be the unfunniest sitcom in TV history.

Can I refill your eggnog, get u something to eat, drive u out 2 the middle of nowhere leave u 4 dead?

As a Canadian TV Series creator I never laughed so much at the insulting incorrect jokes on this series. #Canadian TV still doesn't get it !

And to boot it got canceled. Shame on the American broadcasters and Shame on Chuck Lorre who has so much TV pull to even allow it !

reply

[deleted]

Why wouldn;t Chuck have the pull to keep it from being canceleld?

Gee...could it be because with shows like ;

Mike & Molly
2 & 1/2 Men
Big Bang Theory
Mom
(and Cybill in the 1990s)

..that he's made CBS a great amount of $$$$
and keeps people tuning into the netwrok's sitcoms?

He should be the PRESIDENT of CBS. Maybe he could show them how to get a show high ratings, by not pulling it off the schedule & bringing it back mid-season. (In an effort to make people forget about it.)

===========================================

I have no doubt CBS got uncomfortable that Melissa was making biug $$ in movies and that they'd have to pay her more, which in turn means, upping the salaries of the other actors.

Not only this, but CBS has a nasty history of 'moving' successful shows
from their cushy time slots, to lesser ones, when they want to end them sooner.

Alice
The Jeffersons
Becker (w. Ted Danson)

or if a series they think wont make it from the start

Everybody Loves Raymond (1st half of season One - Fridays)
M*A*S*H (First season on Sundays against Disney on ABC)
WKRP In Cincinnati (Orig. sched on Wed. nights against Little House On The Prarie)

Anyhow, while I've accepted the show is over (networks rarely change their minds)
I do know that even I would have liked it to have made it to at least Season 8. (standard number for sitcoms).

Not even a viewer complaints or petitions could save it now.

Go for it or just be a gopher!

The cast reveals that Netflix or Hulu could have saved and renewed series for season 7

“Mike and Molly” season 6 has been officially cancelled by CBS in December. Lead stars Melissa McCarthy (Molly Flynn) and Billy Gardell (Mike Biggs) revealed that the cancellation still has yet to sink in. Their co-star Rondi Reed also admitted that the producers, including Chuck Lorre, have done everything they can to save the series, including offering it to other networks and perhaps other streaming sites.

At the recent tribute for James Burrows early this week, Gardell shared that filming the last season for "Mike and Molly" has been incredibly difficult and emotional for the cast and crew. He added that they were all saddened by the cancellation, as they have already started to see each other as family.
"We're just trying to get through it," he said.
According to Hollywood Life, James Burrows has been an essential part of the show's success, having directed over 49 episodes.

"Mike and Molly" being cancelled after season 6 definitely came as a shock to almost everyone, including the cast. On her Facebook page, Rondi Reed, who plays Peggy Biggs in the sitcom, broke the news in December.
Reed shared that aside from cancelling "Mike and Molly," CBS decided to cut the episodes to 13 than the earlier announced full renewal order back in March last year. The actress, however, refused to reveal details as to what changed CBS' mind.

In the post, Reed explained that WB and Bonanza Productions (Chuck Lorre) have already explored the possibility of having a new home for "Mike and Molly. Unfortunately, they came out empty handed.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Melissa McCarthy shared that she would have done the show for 50 more years given the opportunity to do so.

After hearing that CBS cancelled "Mike and Molly," McCarthy shared that she could not stop crying. She shared that she is going to miss the entire cast and crew.

"It's not very often that you get six years with people that you really do truly love and good work that you're proud of. I think they wrote a hell of a show," McCarthy shared.
CBS has yet to confirm when they will release the remaining episodes of "Mike and Molly" season 6.

This is one of those sit-coms I use as background noise when I'm working at home in the evening --together with the likes of The Middle, Rules of Engagement, 'Til Death (now that's a terrible one), King of Queens, etc.-- and I think they had just run out of ideas.

Its time had come.
