Why are Easterners always trying to push their religion on you?

In every episode it seems like somebody is trying to convert Gordon to their religion, and you can tell that it irritates him. He's always laughing about their ridiculous rituals.

Gordon is trying to learn about your food, dang it! You don't have to follow Buddha or meditate to truly appreciate Eastern culture.

Gordon: "Now I'd like to get your recipe for this delicious food."
Native: "Well, first we have to drink goat blood and pray to the spirits of the bamboo chutes, and then I'll tell you."
