'I can only find this voicemail as evidence we were in love'

shareOr you know....just the fact that they were married at all.
shareAnd who was he trying to prove it to--her or himself? The movie made a good case for their being in lust, but not in love,
shareGood points, all. The movie is somewhat fascinating as a case study. If the same two people met again under different circumstances, would the result be the same? Would they be together again?
shareMovie fool, eternal sunshine of a spotless mind has this plotline.....fantastic movie, leaps and bounds above this one...
shareyou cannot compare Eternal sunshine with THIS movie. Eternal Sunshine is a masterpiece. This movie is Nic Sparks romance stinker. It wasnt a bad movie, but its just not to be taken seriously as a piece of art like Eternal Sunshine.
Good call on Eternal Sunshine - that movie is one of my all time favorites.
My wife and I, although we did enjoy the film, did look at each other in bewilderment at that scene, especially later on when she is looking for clues and finds the wedding video which he has marked up for her to view. Have the producers of this film not neard of portable dvd players?

or instead of portable dvd player ,laptop computers are much more common.
do not all modern laptops have at least dvd playable drives?
"show me where a black bird gets a drink and i'll show you a crowbar"
He doesn't say that's the ONLY thing he can find - it's just the first thing that occurred to him because he was messing with his phone. Had he been using his phone to surf the Internet (which he obviously wasn't) then he might well have thought about Facebook as the most convincing proof.
"Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?!"
Not everyone in the world uses Facebook. But there should have been pictures and video.

Now that i think about it, it makes sense if it was based of a true story on something that happened prior to the explosion of social networking online. I do still recall the days when the internet was a luxury
Just goes to show how far we've come, that we all saw that seen and thought 'wtf?' lol instagram, twitter, facebook hell even myspace have spoiled us so...
I don't know how it can be regarded as a mistake by the film makers when it is based on a true story. In real life if she was questioning their marriage maybe he wanted to give her some irrefutable evidence that they were recently in love and happy - the wedding video would only prove they had been happy when they actually got married but she could have fallen out of love or felt like she had made a mistake since then
shareShe didn't remember anything about how she felt, or that it even happened. The tape was just to prove that it did. It might have been a start on the road back.
shareShe didn't remember anything about how she felt
The way I saw it she wanted evidence of them being in love not evidence of them being married. It might sound like the same thing but if you remember her telling Leo that people get married for all types of reasons besides love, for a green card for example you'd get the picture.
So basically, even their marriage certificate wouldn't have been enough evidence that they were in love.. that is why a voicemail that ends with Paige saying I love you made her change her mind about staying with Leo and go "I sound happy".
Facebook did not exist back in 1995 you complete retard. Did you even watch this movie?
shareDid you watch this movie? It does not take place in 1995. A good clue is after she leaves the hospital with her husband after listening to the Voice mail, she asks who the president is and he replies "Obama", and she says " The Senator?".
Not 1995.

She shoulda took what he said at face value. That was her husband. Her parents vouched for him. The voicemail, and the wedding video have helped her regain her memory, though.
