What are the 'True Events' inspired by this movie??

The movie is based on the true story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter. The book that the movie is based on tells their true story. They met and fell in love in 1993 (or so) and were married less than two months when the car accident robbed the wife of her memory of her husband. But they decided to keep to their vows and stay married and try and find a way to love each other again, and fell in love, got married a second time and now they have two kids. It's been awhile since I read the book so I don't know if all that info is exactly accurate but it's as close as I can remember.
