Watched it once when it first came out and again today and...

I watched this film when it first came out and remember absolutely hating it. I just watched it again today as I had forgotten some of the details and wanted to figure out why I really hated it, well, I now know the reason:

So I think the casting for every character was flawless, Paige's family all looked related and were very good actors, Leo and Paige were cast perfectly (I love Rachel and have a fan crush on her) and many ladies love Channing. That all being said, during the film Leo is used too much like a punching bag, that gets punched till its' ripped open then ran over repeated. While Paige seems to be having the time of her life mostly. I felt so bad for Leo after everything he went through that the small glimpse of hope at the end didn't seen fulfilling or even like a happy ending, it seems more of a 'well maybe they'll work out'.

I know this is based on true events but either the screenwriter or director just really ruined this film. It could have been a truly romantic film but instead is just a sad, depressing film with a small glimmer of hope at the end.

Anyways just being venting.

I hated the ending, too. I wanted to see both of them getting married again. Also, it was hard to sympathize with Paige because 1. she was stupid enough to undo her belt in the middle of snowy night on bad roads for sex. 2. After losing her memory she becomes less likable. 3. yes, Leo is used as a punching bag and he is doing everything desperately b/c deep inside he is afraid of losing her to her family; He becomes the outsider in her family and I feel so bad for him.

The movie could have been so much better. Love Channing :)
