yes people are! but you forget that Hollywood is an industry an industry fueled by profits like any other, hollywood is one of Americans greatest exports and financial earners.
bringing in an Asian war film with asian stars in the leads, speaking in Korean, just wont sit well with young people who pay 10 dollars at a cinema to be entertained!
yes Asians can watch our movies and be entertained because we have forced it down their throats, we have forced our culture down the world throats for decades!
they are use to it, but we as a nation still reject foreign films in main stream to protect our own industry and also because well.. I don't really know why, but some time ago we were told subtitles suck! but that needs to change seriously
I mean we do play foreign films in usa, of course we do plenty of cinemas in our cities will show art house, foreign, genre pictures.. but you wont see them in the multiplexes because theater chain owners wont risk it unless it's kang fu.
so netflex and VOD will change that, now people at home will have access to foreign films more easily, compared to the past, and even in the past Korean or other countries were not making great films, the Korean film industry has gotten A LOT better in the past 10 years.
so I hope more films will get recognized and viewed. but American audiences will need something they can relate to.
