people are IGNORANT

the lack of activity for a film that will clearly be brilliant is a damning insight into west ern ignorance of foreign films. i could go on to the latest miley cryrus film board and see a million posts about what she wears etc etc yet this board is nearly empty................shocking ignorance

Well...

I saw the trailer TODAY, and i thought it amazing, but i had NEVER heard of this movie before, is this already released or for sale somewhere ??

reply

well,

Mr OP, i read the review and watched the trailer only 1 month ago (very very late), and started to look for the DVD and the copy on the internet. But i couldn't find it anywhere. I think it's no wonder if it only get very few comments and only very few people who rate it (only 77 persons until April 6 2012!). Those foreign language movie lovers (including me) who wanted to watch it just couldn't find where to watch, and MAYBE the rest of them didn't even ever hear about the movie yet. That's why this board is nearly empty. For example, the indonesian movie The Raid Redemption (2011)'s board is quite busy and had 4776 people who rate it. Maybe there's a problem in the marketing? I don't know. But foreign language is not the cause.

The movie isn't available on DVD in the United States just yet. That is probably one reason there isn't a lot of activity on this board. But to be honest, I didn't even know this movie existed until I was looking through the filmography of Tae Guk Gi's director. I have my DVD copy of this movie on preorder, which is where it's been for a few months, but there really isn't much else for me to say about it until I can actually review it. I mean, I can't say if it's good or bad until I see it, but the trailer looks great!

What exactly are you talking about? Your upset because of a message board?

The movie wasn't even released anywhere when the OP complained, except for 5 days in South Korea.

yes people are! but you forget that Hollywood is an industry an industry fueled by profits like any other, hollywood is one of Americans greatest exports and financial earners.
bringing in an Asian war film with asian stars in the leads, speaking in Korean, just wont sit well with young people who pay 10 dollars at a cinema to be entertained!
yes Asians can watch our movies and be entertained because we have forced it down their throats, we have forced our culture down the world throats for decades!
they are use to it, but we as a nation still reject foreign films in main stream to protect our own industry and also because well.. I don't really know why, but some time ago we were told subtitles suck! but that needs to change seriously
I mean we do play foreign films in usa, of course we do plenty of cinemas in our cities will show art house, foreign, genre pictures.. but you wont see them in the multiplexes because theater chain owners wont risk it unless it's kang fu.
so netflex and VOD will change that, now people at home will have access to foreign films more easily, compared to the past, and even in the past Korean or other countries were not making great films, the Korean film industry has gotten A LOT better in the past 10 years.
so I hope more films will get recognized and viewed. but American audiences will need something they can relate to.
