Mark my words. THIS WILL BE HUGE!

HBO has purchased the copy rights and will be adapting this doc into a full fledged TV series.
Brilliant concept.
CAN'T WAIT :)

doc series, or fiction? pretty sad when we in the USA gotta apprehensively wonder about that haha

reply

It wil be very sad if they make a reality series from it. Theres no need to sensationalise the fights. Its not the UFC. A fictional mini series based close to actual events could be intresting though. Perhaps in a similar vain to there war series.

I think the idea is to do a fictional series possibly loosely based on the actual story . Irvine Welsh, the writer of the novel Trainspotting, The Acid House, Ecstasy and Glue among others has been chosen to write the pilot. If it goes down well a series will follow.

Welsh has written plenty about the Scottish underclass and has lived in Dublin for the past 5 years so is ideally located to research the story, meet the travelling community and get a real feel for the subject matter. Add in his gritty writing style and he seems like an excellent choice.

I'll mark your words, but I don't know how huge this could be. It's only interesting because it's real drama between some backwards modern day Hatfields and McCoys. HBO can not film the real fights because they are illegal, yet if they don't film the fights, there's no interest.

I don't see how it would work. Maybe they'll find a way. Plus the fights kinda suck anyway. Out of the dozen or so they showed there were only a couple decent shots thrown the whole time.

Thats how a real fight looks between people who are neither professionally trained or in a movie.

The top fighter from the documentary was professionally trained. I’m from Australia and bare knuckle boxing is done every weekend in a BIG way in the city, valley and I agree the fights were interesting but I have seen some fights here go a lot longer with clean hits resulting in very bad outcomes. Most of the boys fighting here have not been trained but in Australia if you like to go out drinking 8 out of 10 times will result in some altercation and if you can’t fight you’re going to get hurt seems to be getting worse these days but its nearly always fair and no weapons as is the Australian way. They need to do a documentary about young Aussies… HHmm I think I just had an idea.

I did enjoy Knuckle very interesting insight into the Traveler culture.

well to me it means being trained by a professional -- professional trained-- professional fighters would mean they fight in a professional capacity.

Could be interesting if we're talking about a fictional series (which I guess since it's HBO) because it could also deal with some aspects of this kind of community that they did not want to be shown in this documentary. I'm talking criminal facts that probably play a big part in these feuds.

It was all a bunch of blah blah blah, all about vaguely interestingly topic(family history & what not), As for fighting? These fools know nothing about it, they have brought shame to all of their damn "clans" skill=0 preparation =0 They don't deserve a show on any network. In watching Knuckles I am left without any respect for the lot, For grown men they are a little immature too,eh?

You stream it, I watch it, I spread the word = BUZZ 4 Films That Need It!
