So few topics...

Friends,

I check the boards over 2 years after it's released on DVD (I've literally JUST finished watching it for the 2nd time since I bought it the DAY it was put on the shelves), and I find only 2 other topics, with posts by 5 people, maybe less. For "one of the most requested titles from the Disney vaults", this is a pathetic turn-out.
I wanted this title to be re-mastered and released on DVD for years. When I found out it was coming, you could have knocked me over with a feather. The first time I saw it was at a theater for a re-release probably in '75 or '76. I also saw it on "The Wonderful World of Disney" in 2 or 3 parts (I can't recall which version they showed) back in the late 70's. I'm also proud to say I have the Hammer Studios adaptation, "NIGHT CREATURES" with Peter Cushing. Now if someone would release the 30's adaptation... we could all be content until the next re-telling.

I agree with just about everything you just said. And I say it with no joy. There *should* be a LOT more interest and activity here. It's a kind of disgrace that there's not. :o(

Dave (no longer to be known as Ozy, alas! as my Ozymandias312 e-mail account has been grievously hacked and hijacked; furthermore, I am unable to change either my e-mail password, OR the e-mail account I have listed on the IMDB)

And I stood where I did be; for there was no more use to run; And again I lookt with my hope gone.

There are actually three other listings for this movie. Here's the first:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055929/

Which has a lot more discussion than this board.

I guess it has to do with the way Disney released it.

That's Wonderful World of Disney (part 1). Date on this page should be 1963.

There used to be lots of comments on this message board. I think they may have erased a lot of them due to age. I came on to report that it is currently showing on Time-Warner's Disney Family on Demand. The turn over is rather quick so get it and record it while you can.

While reading the synopsis of the plot of this film, I kept thinking that it sounded almost exactly like another flick I'd seen called NIGHT CREATURES, with Peter Cushing, but his character was the villain. Even though me and my little )now-grown-up) brother used to watch Walt Disney every week when we were little, I can't recall seeing this film at all---I probably saw some advertisements for it,though.

Coudln't find this film on the Tube, but I did find the original DOCTOR SYN, from 1937---here it is:

It's strange that Peter Cushing and the 1937 version of 'Dr Syn' gets mentioned in the same post. I think George Arliss as the 1937 Dr Syn looks a lot like Peter Cushing in some shots.
