For a minute I was excited

Then I saw the PG-13 rating,...and then I watched the trailer, and then I read a couple reviews.

I'm not saying it will be bad or that it can't be great.....however, for some reason my excitement lost a little steam.

I'm still going to check it out,....but it's not on the top of my list.

In the trailer, it seems like everyone looks and talks like it's 2011, not 1951/52. Ruined it for me.

Yeah, I agree. It doesn't feel very authentic,...and I'm usually the first one to say don't judge a film by the trailer, but it's hard not to feel like it's almost a made for television special when I watch the trailer.

Then I looked up the director and his primary work has been in television (designing women)

However I'm going to try and stay optimistic. I don't want to be..."That guy" who discounts an entire film after a 2 minute trailer.

I was excited until I saw the chick from big bang theory. That pretty much cemented that it was a B movie.

Yeah,...it sucks because hank had such an interesting life. They should have let Scorsese do it,..I'm actually surprised that a credible director hasn't done it yet.

I agree. The guy was such a bad*ss with a roller coaster life. Why hasn't a decent producer or director put his story out there?

I know,...and the only reason I specifically mentioned Scorsese is because he likes that kind of stuff. He did a great job on the Dylan,... and also Stones documentary,....I'm not even sure if there is a quality documentary made about Hank is there?? Let alone a bio pic.

If there is, let me know. I'll add it to my watch list.

Also,....yes, the room did tie the room together......and they peed on your *beep* rug.

Scorsese did a pretty good job with his documentaries. The Last Waltz was also done by him. But I saw a documentary on comedian Bill Hicks called American: The Bill Hicks Story that was directed by a no-name director and it was done really well and much better than anything Scorsese has done as of yet. I think with modern technology there is a lot more one can do with photographs and low quality video footage to make it come to life.

But this movie about Hank's last days isn't a documentary. What comes to mind are a few biopics that really stood out in my eyes. The Buddy Holly Story, The Coal Miners Daughter, and Walk the Line are remarkable films that capture the essence of the person. A movie based on the last three days of Hank's life is simply disappointing. I read a lengthy biography on him and it was full of really interesting insights on him and his tumultuous life which this film won't even mention.

Oh, well. Maybe someday.

Yeah, I realize this isn't a documentary. And I thought No Direction Home was better than American: The Bill Hicks story,...although, I liked both.

I agree that an unknown director isn't necessarily a bad one.

I just thought the flow of the Dylan doc and the interviews of legends along with the raw video footage he was able to get his hands on was great. I like how the told the story from Dylan's young age too.

I agree, a bio pic would be ideal. I was just curious if there had been a documentary made yet.

There were so many layers to his life, it would have to be done right.

Yeah, I saw Last Days. I really was happy about the minimalist approach. It isn't meant to be an accurate depiction of Kurt's last days. It's purpose is to give an idea of what probably was his activities during those days. My opinion of that movie is that it was decent for a film that crawls at a snails pace. I thought the acting and directing were good. The screenplay was underwhelming though.

I'm assuming that The Last Ride will be as well received as Last Days was. Somewhere around a 5 or 6 rating.

Why don't you morons see the movie before you pan it and judge how good it will be by watching the damn trailer! This must explain how Obama got into office...idiots vote on how "good" the candidates commercials were. This isn't a B-movie...it's a low-budget Indie and that means it's better than most of the "A" movies hollywood churns out for the masses! It's an entirely worthwhile effort and was praised by Hank's daughter Jett as, "the story of the development of a relationship, (and) at the end of which, an icon becomes a legend and a boy becomes a man. That the icon is Hank Williams is just icing on the cake. He does not sing a note or strum a chord--he looks within and humanizes himself. And that is its gift to the viewing audience.” Jeez, if you can't appreciate or respect art...maybe you can have a little trust in the film festivals which have given several awards to the film.

What does a couple peoples opinion of a trailer for a movie have to do with Politics? And what were you trying to accomplish by putting people down for sharing their opinion? This must explain why everyone thinks most people are @ssholes...calling people derogatory names online only to make themselves feel better. You don't have to act like a child to get your point across. Gino, your attempt to troll just failed.

I'd still would like to see a movie about Hank Williams. This isn't it. The Last Ride could be a good movie but skipping Hank's life story is obviously going to be a let down for his fans. Especially those of us who know how interesting his life was.

Years ago (around the time of "A Simple Plan") it was mentioned in articles and interviews that Billy Bob Thornton was working on a biopic of Hank that he would write (or co-write with Tom Epperson) and direct. Then after the studio butchered "All The Pretty Horses" he swore he'd never direct again. Now that he is directing again, he should resurrect this project ASAP while Casey Affleck is too old to play Hank.

I'm sorry, obviously I meant before Casey A fleck is too old to play Hank.
