I don't get the criticism...


...that the movie is shallow. I think it's one of the best displays of our perception of time, dangers of nostalgia and simply one of the most enjoyable editions by Woody Allen.

it's fluffy and Owen Wilson is passive. The people who like it I think like picturing themselves as Owen Wilson's character but there's no real driving force behind it. It's just like a parade of "hey they got this famous actor to play this famous artist"
I found it kinda masturbatory.

This is my favorite Woody Allen movie, so I would also not understand that if I've heard such a criticism. The fact that the film is entertaining and interesting doesn't mean that it is shallow at all!
