This is terrible. Prom is not the most important part of high school, thanks for reinforcing that disney. The rebel falls in love with the cheerleader!! never saw that before.

Yes, but a lot of high schoolers (mostly girls) believe it is, so it would make sense that a female high school character would say something along the lines of Prom being a very important, if not the most important part of high school.

Thank GOODNESS someone agrees with my point of view. I keep seeing posts and people going "oh my God a movie about prom! Prom! Prom! Prom!"
If disney portrayed prom as it actually is parents would stop letting their teens GO to prom.
It is basically parent-approved pregnancy and alcohol poisoning.
Not to mention the fact that no one gives a flying *beep* about prom itself. It's all about the after party and how many beers you can down and how many girls you can bed. People left my prom by 10. No one even danced for longer than an hour, tops.
What happened to PROM? And this movie just continues to influence kids and pre-teens until they are excited about something and have these grand expectations that won't be lived up to.
Thanks Disney..

Yeah, I'm in my sophomore year in HS, but I'm not crazy about prom. My cousin told me her proom was a mess. Her date ended up being way too drunk, so they didn't even go to a party, they were on the street and he was throwing up (gross!). So she called some people and they took him home first, and his parents were crazy mad at him, and then my cousin was the last to come home. It really sucked for her. Proom may only be romantic for couples, other than that, it's just about drinking and going crazy without parents around.

Good job Disney, but won't buy it.

It's Grease all over again... except badly done.

End of line, man.

I was in college when I went to my girlfriend's prom. Never went to one of my own. Gotta say... wow.

Wow = complete waste of money and time. The only good investment out of that night was condoms.

Ok, I can officially say that this is the only board for this movie that I completly agree with.

There is an earlier board claiming that this is an original idea.

Let's see....watch: High School Musical [:(], Mean Girls, Pretty in Pink, Grease, 16 Candles, The breakfast club, Fame [both films], basically any campy teen movie. This plot line is almost as dead as the horror genres.

Disney...you're good on your own terms. I get the whole "keeping up with the generation thing", but I don't know if you've noticed it...but YOU ARE CREATING THINGS FOR THEM TO FOLLLOW!! You're going to have the support of 12 year old girls, parents and business men....until it dies down. Films like Aladdin or Tarzan connected with all the generations...go back to that!

When I saw this preview in theaters, I just thought "you've got to be kidding me". After watching Tangled and Princess and the Frog, I thought they got the message. Well they didn't and now I'm confused!
