Something seemed off

I thought this movie was cute, although the ending could have been better... was more like a TV ending than a movie in my opinion.

Anyways, was this movie set in present time? Because I don't think so - probably in the early 2000s, cause they're still using a webcam (which isn't exactly old, but still, a plug-in).

Also, there wasn't any sight of a cellphone, which I approve of d": And one last thing that I liked about this film: no product placement! Loved it :"D

Maybe that's why I liked the film, it was clean and not focused on technology, just good old verbal conversation.

The lead female wasn't rich (couldn't afford a necklace to go with her dress) so she probably couldn't afford a newer computer with a webcam already installed.

As for the cell phone thing, I loved the fact that there wasn't any. It would've taken away from the movie all the fun little things the guys did for the girls to ask them to prom. A "Prom?" text would've been boring.

"What world are you living in? I don't need friends. I need fans."

On the Mei's papers for University, there was 2015 year. It's the part where she is sitting on the fllor in the school hall.
