Was this a sexual joke?

In the episode 'the worst couple' Cat hugs Andre and he says ''don't start something you can't finish''

Yes it's a sexual joke. Sexual jokes are a hallmark of kid sitcoms, and they're Dan Schneider's specialty.

Honestly unsure of 2nd posters comment (feel they are being defensive for no specific reasoning). Also didn't get much from 3rd poster comment (just that the producer does that often ... doesn't explain this specific scene).

I somewhat recall ep but would need more info to what was happening for her to say that to make a valid comment. Will rtn once I rewatch episode to let u know my thoughts.

I answered the user's question, what "explanation" are you looking for? I remember the scene perfectly, the joke is sexual. The implication is that Cat shouldn't "start into things" with Andre if she's not going to go all the way. If the OP didn't already understand the joke, he/she wouldn't have asked if it was sexual to begin with.

So many innuendos in both Victorious and iCarly.

Andre asks how can someone go from a A to a D and Jade saying it happened to her in 8th grade.

iGet Pranky the whole scene where they talk about pranks they pulled is the typical have you had sex talk even down to to them pressuring Carly (Virgin) to pull a prank(have sex)

The Breakfast Bunch, Jade calling Cat a Vegan, Jade interrogating Robbie about if he's ever had a taco and him motion to Tori and Jade calling him out on it. This is probably the most obvious one out of everything I can list since the scenes are direct Satires of the are you a Virgin scene I'm the Breakfast club.

These jokes are very common in kids programming. They are there for the adults that watch it. There funny to kids but hilarious to adults that get the refrences.

I think that the Breakfast Club taco gag was supposed to be more analogous to if they'd smoked weed before. If it was matching up to the movie at least. Like how they stuffed the tacos down their pants when the Vice Principal came by.

Yes, Dan's shows seemed to constantly have references to hot dogs and bananas. You don't have to be Freud to figure this out.

reply

Most jokes in Dan Schneider shows are sexual innuendos.

reply

They really are, aren't they. I wonder how many sexual-related jokes there are in an average episode of Victorious. It seems like tons.

Not that I think it is of ANY harm to kids, but I wonder if parents are aware these shows are written like this.

reply

If they are good parents Im sure they are aware. If they are good parents Im sure they know if their kids gets it or not. If they are good parents they will discuss it with their kids.

If they are bad parents they expect the tv, computer, and phone screens to raise their kids and the moment they hear it has sexual innuendos from someone else they'll be on here lookjing for a reason to bitch or complain. To them I said *beep* YOU!!!

There are a few cute ones in "the Slap Fight"..

The whole Socks and Violins thing, obviously.. And the "would you follow me? I'd follow me" was pretty funny.. the whole car washing thing was just overt. 😅

It's a good episode, but you do have to remember these are shows where the characters are teenagers and young adults and they're made for the like 😊

😏 have a great day! 😁

"would you follow me? I'd follow me", a shout-out to Silence of the lambs was pretty funny indeed.

You guys all realize Dan Schneider likes little girls, right? I'm not saying he touches kids, but he likes them. He casts young, pretty girls in his shows and then makes them talk about bras and panties and peeing a lot. Then there's the sexual jokes. He get his rocks off with his shows. I watch because I have kids who love these shows and sometimes I have no choice to watch and I admit, iCarly was a great show. It was actually funny and the chemistry was great between everyone and I was a huge Spencer fan. I noticed a little too much bra and panty talk for a kid's show, but whatever. Have you ever seen This guy? He looks the part completely. I bet he would hate for the FBI to get their hands on his laptop!! Of course I realize I'm preaching to the choir here, most of you are probably grown men who watch this...alone! LOL

he is a pedo and everyone in hollywood knows about it, he hooked up with amanda bynes and jamie lynn spears while they were children. him putting sexual innuendos in KIDS shows is disturbing

There were also scenes that supposedly had to be re-cut because they were obvious sex jokes. Like the bj scene with Cat and Sikowitz. Don't remember that? That's because it got edited. I can't remember the episode but it starts with Tori, Sikowitz and Cat in the classroom and Tori is reading a script. She can't read it right and Sikowitz and Cat keep laughing. Tori gets angry and storms out of the room. She comes back and this is where the bj joke was supposed to be. The placement of the chair in front of Sikowitz and Cat sitting right in front. Tori comes back into the room, pulls Sikowitz's pants down, grabs the giraffe out of Cat's hands and tosses it out the window. Tori leaves and it's here that Cat shouts about the giraffe, Andre was supposed to come in and see Cat sitting in front of Sikowitz, with his pants down. Cat then runs off and out the window and over the ledge. Sikowitz then turns to look at Andre and gives him a funny look. Andre just says he'll come back. When re-edited, the scene has Tori leaving, Cat shouting about the giraffe and now shows her run out the window. They cut to Andre now opening the door and looking in. He sees Sikowitz standing there without pants, and Cat falling over the wall/ledge. Andre stills excuses himself. Nick supposedly thought the first cut was too obvious. The 2nd cut was less.

This episode is one of the most repeated shows on Teen Nick. I wonder why certain episodes keep getting repeated over and over while others others are never shown.

reply

How do you know what the original cut was?
