A big heaping dose of academic "political correctness" too. Archaeology is bad about it (but strangely most archaeologists I've found aren't too pleased with the whole thing, it's more the government I think). We have to apologize and bow and scrape to any group that decides they may have had ancestors in some area but they can go dig up European ancestry people and take them apart as much as they like.
