Nice!

An aussie movie in which everyone doesn't die at the end and leave you feeling disgusted for watching it.

Gave it a five. Nice, average suspense. Worth a re-watch the next time it comes on.

**WARNING* Question that lead to SPOILERS**

I just watched this movie today and have to say, enjoyed it. Unfortunately, my cable was cutting out and freezing during the last 5 minutes or so and I was unable to catch the ending. Can anyone clue me in? Much appreciation for any and all replies!

Spoilers....

They get the upper hand on the sailor dude, knock him out, and tie him out on the dingy behind the boat. He wakes up and the lady, the one who lied about the assault, gets this smarmy smirk on her face and unties the rope, leaving him drifting. That part is the part that most folks aren't quite grasping. The movie sort of makes you believe she stranded him to die in the middle of the ocean....but in reality, she untied him like five miles offshore in the middle of busy shipping lanes and in the middle of a huge search and rescue effort. Nothing that he did was criminal....the others actually assaulted HIM and he was defending himself. The rest were the criminals and the lady at the end, if it was done the way they want you to believe, was attempted murder. He would have a criminal case against everyone of them.

Ok - what are you talking about?

THEY were defending the group as a whole, though Sam did stretch the truth in some instances concerning bull. However, he was obviously already off his rocker considering the random guy he almost killed with his bare hands. Do you really think all those people were just...against him? I mean his first offense was beating that surfer guy on the beach to near death. Then he stole the boat and left the captain and his deck hands to basically die. He collected all the sharp objects on the boat and threw them all at the captain and deck hands, by the way. He also tied Robs hand to the anchor and hung him there for God knows how long. He even told Sam that if she didn't dance for him his death would be on her conscience. He literally held them captive - tried to force Sam to re enact the web tape in front of everyone. He was crazy, violent and disrespectful. period. There is no evidence to the contrary. The reason they beat the *beep* out of him is because he was, once again, trying to assault Sam chasing her, grabbing her by the legs, etc. He was GOING to assault her in one way or another and they were trying to keep that from happening despite being so unsure of what to do...that they did absolutely nothing for a long time.

And as for the "busy waters".....did you forget in the beginning where they said it would take 12 hours just to get to the first island?? That they would drop anchor there and sleep then go to the next island the next day to get to the butchery??? Also supporting them not "being in busy waters" - When they put him out on the little dingy boat after they knocked him out, Toobs states to Sam (and I quote) "It's going to take a looong time to get back". To which she replied "And then what will happen to him?" To which Toobs replies, "Probably nothing. He has to be tried here, he can't be tried at home." Which also points to the fact that even if you were correct about them being the assailants (and not the ones defending themselves in the face of a crazy *beep* nothing would happen to THEM if they were tried there, just like him.

Also, in the beginning after they first got on the Hedonist, Archie (Grum) asked the captain "Don't we have to say goodbye to the coast guard and *beep* (I went so far as to look this scene up to make sure I heard right)and the skipper replied "if we break down out here, we have to get ourselves out of trouble."...so I highly HIGHLY doubt there was some HUGE search and rescue effort when the captain himself said it would be up to them if they got stuck.

Though, in looking back I do believe that Sam lied a few times. Her smirk was pretty telling at the end, as well - though, nothing is really spelled out enough to tell for sure.

Agreed.

She wasn't nice, but she'd been provoked and he took liberties that NO MAN should.
