Pretty damn good! Not to mention it was a battle of two psychos

Won what? She didn't gain anything. He'll press charges against them all when he arrives in port the day after they do if it even takes that long. She didn't strand him in the middle of the Pacific with no chance of rescue, after all.

reply

I was on Sam's side until the very end, when she had that smug smirk on her face after untying his boat.

At that point it became about winning, not survival. She acted like a princess. I lost all sympathy for her.

Unc John: We makin' trouble?
Stacy: Yeah
Unc John: What kind?
Stacy:...The forever kind

reply

They shoulda killed the psycho. That's the only way to take care of the problem with no possibility of him showing up in the future to threaten them again.

So she was being very kind to leave him alive.

reply

That leaves an opening for a sequel, but this being a low budget thriller, probably not.

Unc John: We makin' trouble?
Stacy: Yeah

reply

I suppose it was more realistic with them not killing Bull, even though he worked them up into a good enough frenzy to do it. Killing someone is something the average person wouldn't do unless he/she absolutely had to.

reply

This was more about real people in the world we actually live in. Bull wasn't really a conventional movie monster. More of an incredibly insecure bully with a huge ego.

I thought this film was quite tense and nerve-wracking. Ben Oxenbould was absolutely terrifying as Bull.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!

reply

"Ey? Ey?" Yeah, Ben Oxenbould was good in this. Admittedly I only really know him from the "Hey Dad!" show. Some of the things he said/did, especially around the dinner table scene, felt like it got a little silly at times, otherwise it was a good bully character.

reply

Yeah, I agree with most of these comments ... except that I'm not sure Bull would have survived. I'm not sure anyone knew where they were headed ... Bull got rid of the radio, I believe, so did they have any helpful navigational instruments? As the skipper had said, there was no coast guard to alert ... if you got in trouble out here, you were on your own. Would the currents carry Bull to safety? Maybe they were all in danger if a storm came up. I'm hoping the Skipper was not too far from land when his dinghy got stymied.

If you are left adrift in Indo, you may very well stay adrift in Indo until you hit shore. If you hit shore, chances are it will be someplace that doesn't have regular travel between islands. She fajucked Bull, which rightly she should have. I thought it was a decent film, and portrayed surfers pretty realistically (compared to- for instance- In Gods Hands or that kind of tripe- or worse- the hollywood versions that didn't have actual surfers involved. This film was pretty flattering towards surf culture in general. Kudos.

reply

Well, that's cool, I guess ... I have no reference for surfers other than Hollywood films, but I'll take your word for it.

I liked what G-force said ... two psychos. I guess they all would have been losing sleep trying to keep Bull off the boat but I still think there was another way she could have handled the situation. If she had wanted to.

reply

Do you mean she could have had sex with him? That thought crossed my mind more than once, and I may even post the question as a new topic. To save Rob? Everyone? Definitely something I think she should have considered, even knowing a positive outcome wouldn't be guaranteed.

reply

Oh, good question ... I don't think I ever saw your reply until today, so have basically forgotten what I was thinking. I don't think that crossed my mind, although it might have helped matters ... or not. In her shoes, I think I would have wanted everyone in the room with us because I would have been terrified of him.

However, I think she was too selfish for that. I think I was just thinking she could perhaps not have made such a big stink in the first place, or, going way back, not been such a ... tease? I'm not sure if she really was but it bothered me for instance that she slept with her door open, especially with her room being right across from the head. But probably what I was really thinking is that there might have been some way they could have kept Bull on the raft without any of them having to lose sleep. I wonder what she would have said to the crew in the morning.
