Have to agree, i'm usually the one explaining movies to my friends/family, but this one even had me scratching my head. I followed about 90% of it, but then it lost me at the VERY end with the 'mom is connected to alien/Tyler is too' stuff.

I think a lot of the problem is that the clues/hints to the final answer are all explained in poorly recorded overdubs & conversations that go by in a flash. If you didn't understand what they said (due to poor audio quality) or if you sneezed for a second, you missed the TINY clue that tied everything together.

I'm all for leaving it up to the viewer to figure out, spoon feeding can be annoying (especially for someone like myself who ENJOYS unraveling a movie). But the clues have to be well thought out & presented properly. I don't think they did either here. Still enjoyed the movie as an indie horror/sci fi, and the acting/cinematography was MUCH better than the usual STV indie stuff.

Just wish the incoherent corridor power/ending explanation was a bit more clarified. We're not all inside your head screenwriter! I'm sure it made sense to him, but to the rest of us it's a but muddled...

Exactly! I was so disappointed at the lack of discussion here. I don't like the everything wrapped up, but I do love to read the discussions and get ideas on possible meanings.

SPOILERS BELOW CAUSE HOW ELSE CAN I ASK:

I couldn't figure out if the "alien thingie" just sat and waited for Tyler to come back? and whether or not his mom said to lock it out or let it in.

Seemed to me like Ev's anger really powered up the alien thing, but there was something really intriguing about the other guy being the communicator. But then this alien thing is infiltrating everyone's brains but they had to be there, so what set Ty off in the beginning of the movie for real? And he stated that all he had was a bad brain or whatever to share with the others, but really, if his antipsychotics were blockers, how could anyone know his mind?

I found it interesting in character development, but wish they could've given Bob a better wig, and yeah, I wasn't sure if the ashes related to Ty putting Pauline's ashes down in the beginning of the movie to start it all up again or what. But somehow Ty knew how to shut that thing down pretty quick.

****************Spoilers*************

The guys explained it in dialogue in the movie.
it was a type of probe, and it was alone. the guys
mom found it around 1986, the date on the video tells
us this. so in 1986, the mom goes into woods and finds
the probe. the mom was then trapped inside the probe the
whole time, or at least her consciousness. that why his
mom went slowly crazy and the son killed her with
pills, an overdose. then it fast forwards a bit when he
gets out of the hospital(lockup) and they have a get
together like old times. they all find that they still
have animosity towards each other for different reasons.
the son finds the thing in the woods, tells his one friend
and that guy tells everybody, cause he thinks its crap.
they all go out and find it. after a bit, they all go back except
the waiter guy. the waiter friend have a very dark bitterness
to life and the probe makes it worse. meanwhile the others
are doing things that are strange like getting smarter and
reading each other minds. so the son guy argues with his best
friend about getting out of there, and he figures out he
should take his beta blocker meds(crazy pills, lol) which
block out the ill effects. meanwhile the waiter guy kills
a hunter. he is now over the deep end, and returns to the house.
people start hurting each other, and we find out the waiter
guy is doing it, mind control the others, since he was in
there longer. after 2 guys are dead, the son guy slips a b
blocker pill into some vodka, and tricks the waiter into
drinking it. after a few minutes the best friend wakes up
and is no longer effected by the waiters mind. he over powers
him some kinda sonic boom from his mouth(not making this stuff
up, lol) and leaves. ok waiter and son struggle and waiter is
pushed outside the probes boundaries. he becomes suddenly aware
of the horrible things that he has done and kills him self
with the dead hunters gun. the son uses the snowmobile to
go fast and knock the best friend out of the probe
before best friend stretched the corridors walls to a large
populus, where he intended to share the fun they have been
having. now son is trapped into probe, and probe knows that
the son will not comply, or the son takes over, but I think
it's the first one, cause his mom appears and he finds out that
this is not his mom, he replays the events of how his mom
died in real life, and chokes her, all while white
light is enveloping them. after yelling exposition and
choking mom, mom is now his real mom(acts like mom)
he and mom embrace and the white light gets closer and they
no that they are going to be crushed into dust( or perhaps
taken away, its ambiguous to me, but its implied that they
are now dead) and they sing a lullaby and then scream as the
light turns into a tiny spot and dust falls to the ground.
the best friend puts his hand through the dust and walks out
of the forest. the end. lesson here: don't mess with stuff
that falls out of the sky, it's always bad for everybody, lol.

Thanks for that! I did not understand a thing from this film & I'm usually the type that gets these things & end up explaining it all to family & friends.

No Prob. I really thought it was a good movie, IMHO.
It was one of the first horror movies that I watched when
I first realized that Netflix was hording all of these low
budget movies, most of which never had a DVD release.
There are many even better movies than that one on Netflix
that I watched, that most people have never even heard of.
Sad Really
