Beautiful Cinematography

In November 2012, I left the theater believing I saw the most beautifully shot Bond film in Skyfall. That film has stayed with me, not just because I am a Bondophile, but because it was so visually rich & stunning.

I tried to catch Only God Forgives at my local Laemmle. But I missed it by one day. The very moment I had an opening, I went down there and they had pulled it off the screen. Damn.

So, I had to end up waiting until now. January 2015. What a beautiful film! Such vivid & striking colors! Another feast for the eyes. I loved it! This reminded me of Skyfall because it was the last movie I left that I was so taken with the gorgeous cinematography.

Hats off to Larry Smith! 

It's gorgeously lit, but the overly sharp, almost sterile edges of the digital look takes from how well lit it was. It would have looked better if it was shot on film, for a grittier, richer texture.

I agree, just watched the bluray. It looks fantastic, as does Skyfall.

The look of this film was about the only good thing about it.
