Oh Dear

Oh dear. What utter s h i t e. And offensive on so many levels, but mostly to our intelligence, their intelligence (especially the relatively bright David Mitchell and Victoria Coren) and to good taste. Did I really see them make 'wacky' and very unfunny comedy of a Mossad assassination squad on a mission to kill members of Hamas - after showing a clip of said assassins on that very mission? Yes, I did. What the *beep*?!

My god! After making the mistake of watching this crap on BBC iPlayer I've just turned on the box and, yes, this excrementally awful show is on again! Aaaaghhhh!

P.S. It's so blindingly obvious which answers are the correct ones in this rancid stool of a 'quiz show' that I can only assume the contestants have been paid to get them wrong.

i assume the comedians get them wrong on purpose for comedy value

i found it rather amusing

What pisses me off is seeing such, otherwise, talented people giving the thumbs-up to such mediocre fare. When it comes to 'alternative' quiz shows, there's no new ideas under the sun. In my dreams, I'll be handing grenades to Les Dawson and Peter Cook, Chris Morris and Dylan Moran. May they cause havoc. Somebody, please, point out that the emperor is butt-naked, and tweak his nipples.

It's not that bad, calm down.

At least they're trying to create something new other than simply repeat old episodes or mock the week or QI...

I found it quite funny, but it depends on the comic ability of the guests. The shows just started and will undoubtedly change over time (much as mock the week did) hopefully for the better.

If the show pisses you off so much then just simply don't watch it. Even if you do pay TV licence for it and you don't like it, chances are that a lot of other people do.

I reserve the right to display my rage at momentary intervals. Perhaps it was the straw that broke the camel's back, the precipitous decline of British TV having created a well of resentment in my gut. Still, thanks for reminding me not to watch it.

I quite liked it actually. If you don't like it don't may I suggest you don't watch it?

reply

Thanks for the excellent suggestion, trinity. You might be surprised to hear, though, that it's a suggestion that's already been made. Moreover - and you'll just have to take my word for this, it was an idea I'd already come up with myself.

Joking apart, it's a good job that not everyone thinks that there's no room for criticism. If they did, 100s of journalists would be paid for saying little more than "Didn't like it. Not watching it again"; and the head honchos at imdb would delete all but fulsome praise from its boards.

Squeeth, you're a cynical old card! That said, I think you're pretty much 'bang on' there. And note that 'relatively bright' was as far as I'd go. Nice to hear Wayne/Jayne again - it's been a while.

So you'd rather they made no new programs at all? So we'd all be simply watching endless repeats?

'you can only criticise if you've done it yourself' is a good argument in a lot of situations, you're probably just too stubborn and stupid to understand what they're saying.

Judging by your comment I'd say you're the one that's an idiot, with nothing worthwhile or correct to say.

To be fair, if you don't like it, you don't like. I don't like Corrination Street but to my amazement others do so much that its been run for a stupid number of years.

The thing I like about this programme is that it's silly and that's what makes it work for me. It means comedians have to come up with things on the spot rather than having a week to figure out which of their usual haul of jokes will fit in with a particular news story.
