Most boys...

Ok so the babysitter scene had me a little confused. If you were a little boy with the power of thought projection, telepathy, mind reading, manipulation, etc...and you had a hott blond babysitter, would you make her eat glass? I think it would have been more appropriate if the babysitter had been an older woman. Like maybe their aunt or neighbor or something like that. A boy with an attractive babysitter would most assuredly have had a crush on her. And with those powers...I just doubt they would wanna see her eat glass. I thought it was a good movie but that one scene didn't work for me.

bah... boring movie , no real innovation, the "birth-enhancing" drug thing is so far-stretched, i didnt bother much about the babysitter...

But my guess would b it's some sort of dark joke about eating cereals (crunchy noise), which maybe can help u relate to why som kids did it... (maybe the babysitter forgot to buy dem their fav. brand for breakfast, so they got pissed :s)

That or the moviemaker got some sort of oral fixation (why are the parents mutilated on their mouth ? the scene with them & the knives makes even less sense 2 me... "i luv ya that much so that even if i disfigured ya...?")

& what was the thing about the girl Katie & that ugly fatso she sees around, is this the daddy she "misses" so much ?... y right...
& why z'she the only one not to forget dem ?

& why the whole diabete thing ? why a catholic school & all the religious imagery?

& why kill the priest ? just after sayin' they supposed 2 lay low...

& what about "what about feeding the bird" ? made sense to any1?

Bit of a disappointment, i dont get the enthusiasm of som of the ppl who wrote here & encouraged me 2 watch this weak flick.

reply

Yea good points. The Katie thing was ridiculous. I mean here is a young girl talking to her dead father whispering how much she misses him and wants to be with him again and wants to see him soo badly. A bit weird eh? And then when she's having sex with the jock she starts seeing images of her father ( I guess it's the twins thought projection) and she freaks out...so exactly what was going on? The "feed the birds" was incomprehensible as you mentioned. And there was no reason to kill the priest. They wanted info, they mind controlled him to get it (when they could have just read his mind)...and then they killed him when they could have made him forget everything. Too many unexplained sloppy elements...

Do you not remember Jonah's aversion to kissing? The twins have no empathy and so they don't understand their parents' affection towards each other. They may find it disgusting, hence manipulating the parents to slice each other's mouth.

No, he's not her father. I'm guessing he's someone who had abused her, which is probably why she wanted to be with her father so much. I have an impression that that man had sexually abused her, which left her pregnant and infertile. It's possible he was her foster father, step-father or guardian.

What? 'Dem' = the twins?

& why the whole diabete thing ?

It can be interpreted however you want. My interpretation is that it's to illustrate one of many small differences between the twins. By having diabetes, Jonah is portrayed as the weak twin.

why a catholic school & all the religious imagery?

Why not? It's part of Horror genre, isn't it? The Omen, The Exorcist, Stigmata, The Sin Eater, and more.

& why kill the priest ? just after sayin' they supposed 2 lay low...

It was Jonah who wanted them to lie low while Seth didn't care, but I'm guessing they killed him because the priest had threatened to expel them from school.

& what about "what about feeding the bird" ? made sense to any1?

It's a double entendre. Remember, Kirby is a child molester. I try not to be too graphic, but he's essentially compared children with birds. Listen to him again.

what about "what about feeding the bird" ? made sense to any1? I pretty much agree with the last poster I saw this last one a little different. I mean I think the Child Molesters use feeding the birds in the park as an excuse to spy on little kids and find their next victim. I don't usually look twice at some guy feeding the birds but some guy just standing their leering at the children in the park that i pay attention. Feeding the birds gives great cover and yea also Kriby saw the kids like little birds helpless and vulnerable.

most 5 year old boys don't have sexual feelings towards old people which to them is what the babysitter was.

reply

Um I don't think so. Maybe old people as in a 40 year old...this girl was the perfect age for a young boy to have fantasies over. I'm saying it should have been an aunt they didn't like or an old lady they were scared of...not a young hott blonde chick.

reply

When I was five my mother was 25 and she seemed old to me, all adults did. I don't remember having sexual feelings or fantasies about anybody at all at that age.

reply

Well I'm not saying they would have had explicit thoughts, I'm saying they would have had a little crush on her. She didn't seem to be in her 20's, maybe mid to late teens. And she was very pretty. It would be typical for boys that age to have a crush on a teenage girl especially one they are familiar with. It would have been a better scene if it was a person who looked scary, intimidating, or mean. But considering how apathetic they were I guess the typical rules do not apply.

When I watched it, I could tell the babysitter was quite clearly older than me. So that makes her mid-twenties at least. And the boys were about three or four years old. That's the age where anyone older than a teenager is 'old' and anyone of the opposite sex is 'icky'.

reply

How could you miss that the gist of this film is that Jonah and Seth were NOT "most boys"?

reply

They're still human, they're still boys, they still have desires...that was evident when the one fell in love with the girl. I understand the gist of the film. I'm just saying that it would have been more believable to me if it were an older scary looking mean aunt or neighbor instead of a hott young chick...

reply

You don't get the gist of the film because what you're saying is contradictory for that.

I'm an idiot for stating my opinion and my personal view? I'm spewing BS all over this board? It's embarrassing? Then do yourself a favor and ignore everything I said. Oh wait, you missed that opportunity because you were soo overanxious to insult me. Someone with your level of intelligence is obviously incapable of engaging in an intellectual conversation without resorting to unneeded insults. Listen Princess, there is no need for your type of conduct. I merely made a point about the movie. I have every right to do so. If you feel different, then by all means make your counter point respectfully. That shows civility and separates humanity from barbarism. If you're unable to do that then my reply to you is futile and there is no need to continue in this "discussion" with you. BTW, just because this is the internet does not absolve you of the obligation of maintaining social politeness and consideration. I was raised with manners and fully educated to understand why it's important to resist the urge to engage in back and forth battering.

Here's a hint I learned in public speaking in college: when you insult someone, it shows a lack of intelligence. The intelligent listener will see your desperate attempt to discredit a valid point through the use of slander. This will take away the validity of your own statements and thus discredit every thing you mentioned even if you were correct.

So with that I will refrain from verbally assaulting you. I will however recommend that you learn how to communicate in a more socially acceptable manner. I bid you farewell until next time. Take care.

And once again your lack of ability to converse intellectually has made itself apparent. Either that or you're purposely attempting to get a rise or unfavorable response. To briefly reply to your illogical statement, your other so-called points were incorrect. You are arrogant, assumptive, and jump to unreasonable conclusions. Enjoy being ignored from here out.

I don't understand why they would have thoughts so violent at such a young age??? Or why they would want to hurt her?
