Isn't there a little wink to the audience by having Marie give Nico that boater? Also, Tadzio in Death in Venice is also a 'teaser' and drives the Dirk Bogard character crazy with 'lust', so much so that he dies of a heart attack, I seem to recall, on the beach whilst Tadzio is swimming with some other boy. You know, unrequited love/lust, etc, an 'Adonis' character that is fully aware of his effect on people etc....

Anyone thinks there is a connection there?

I thot the very same thing from the second the film started!!!

I am SO glad you posted this! This is why I came to the board, to see if anyone else had the same thot.

I was really impressed by this film, myself--- a little gem. Artistic and lovely, especially for all the young talent involved. A real charmer. :)
