Why'd the director take his name off the movie?

Old 37 was directed by a guy named Christian Winters, but he has chosen to use the credit Alan Smithee, meaning he felt he lost control of the movie and took his name off it.

Anyone know what happened?

I'm sure the director removes his name because this movie is a complete embarrassment
