Met director at q+a

I attended a screening in NYC the other night and director Fred Schepisi was present for a q&a after the show. He spoke about the great casting of Charlotte, Rampling, Judy Davis and Geoffrey Rush, and the great relationship he had with all of them. He felt very proud of everyone's work on this film.

He's one of my all-time favorite directors. I look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.

He's a wonderful director, but a number of American reviews for "The Eye of The Storm" single out his direction and the script by Judy Morris as the reason why the film's a disappointment. However, the acting all around is outstanding! Personally, I enjoyed the film but I can see with another director, the results could be better.

I think the direction missed a little bit - but not as much as the editing!

To me it seemed sloppy and affected the continuity of the emotion and tension of several scenes.

I don't know how closely directors work with editors - perhaps there should have been more supervision there - and why 3 or 4 assistant directors for this film? Maybe that had some negative effect upon continuity?
