Marv motive? (Huge Spoilers)

I got the impression that Marv intentionally let himself be killed. Like suicide by cop, only his was suicide by mob assasin. I got the impression he didn't care about living anymore - didn't care about seeing Europe, bills piling up, Chechan mob having zero respect for him. Maybe he had a life insurance policy his sister could cash in on.

Marv was so calm (and unarmed) and didn't make a move as the hitman walked up and shot him. He was so reckless with his plans and actions toward the end, and you know he was a street-smart guy to have survived the mob that long. Just seemed to give up. I think he engineered his own assasination.

Maybe Marv knew the game was up.

Its that man again!!

He was tired of not being who he once was, the lack of respect etc.

Once he realized the robbery failed, he just accepted that it was over.

Valid argument. What if he had suceeded and robbed superbowl drop?? What were his plans for his sister and near dead father. Surely he figured they were in danger

He had no other options. He was doing something "desperate" like Bob thought. It was his last hope. He didn't see Eric come back out of the bar and decided to call him but Bob answered (said nothing to each other only listened but they both knew who was on the other end). He knew there was nothing else to do and when he saw the guy approaching from behind he knew then his time was up and there would be no use running.

Marv was taking the longest possible long shot. He knew that one way or another he was doomed. He was attempting an almost impossible task. Great parallel scene was Marv coming out from the C-store with his coffee, newspaper and a fistful of LOTTERY tickets. The guy who kills him is the guy who asks for directions as Marv is walking across the street. Marv is a beaten man. Taken care of by his sister, unable to pull the plug on his father, HOPING that somehow his life would go backwards and he could have a healthy father, loan sharking and bar with him in charge.
Bob was comfortable with the Chechens, Marv was always trying to get on their good side(looking to shake hands with them, explaining that he was shoveling snow....and telling Bob to get the enforcer a shot of that whiskey.....). They had zero respect for him...but BOB? He was all good.
