shareNo. It did terribly both critically and financially. Some bozos here will claim it made its money back but it indeed didn't when taking marketing costs into account. Plus movie studios don't spend a half year producing a film only to have it make nothing for them. It's a monumental waste of time and energy.
shareAlso, when they don't make anywhere near the budget back, they should JUST be thinking about recovery. With the way this thing performed, I don't think Lionsgate was thinking "Huh, but what if we made a second one?". Any hopes for making this a franchise were DOA on opening weekend.
