As if 'Curb' wasn't bad enough...

Curb was horrible. It really showed me that Jerry was the real talent behind 'Seinfeld'. I honestly didn't think TV could get worse...

...but then I watched The Paul Reiser Show. Wow. I didn't even remotely smile at any point. I want to say that it'll be canceled quickly, but I'm surprised Curb stuck around as long as it did, so who knows!

Why is it so hard to for people to make quality shows nowadays?!

LD came up with Curb and Seinfeld came up with Marriage Ref and you think Jerry was the talent behind Seinfeld. The vast majority of ppl would disagree with your assessment.

I agree this show is awful, the most awful of anything NBC has put with the exception of perfect couples.

I rarely ever post to boards, but I can't let you get away with your comment.

Larry David IS what made Seinfeld work. Curb your Enthusiasm is the best comedy on television (still running). Larry David was the only thing that made this pilot have any life. LD schooled Paul Reiser in those scenes. Sad to see that Paul can't hold up. I wanted to like this show, but Curb has set the bar impossibly high for this sub-genre.

"Curb your Enthusiasm is the best comedy on television"

I'm sorry that you feel like an old man getting into an unrealistic situation and/or fight with someone in EVERY episode is funny...

Larry starts his day.
Larry gets into an awkward situation.
Larry fights with someone.
Larry gives "I'm defeated" face.

There's the brilliant formula for what you call the "best comedy on TV".

I laugh just thinking of LD doing any one of your simplistic generalizations of the show.

I supposed a show about guys sitting around a bar talking EVERY episode couldn't be funny either. Cheers, mate.

reply

Cheers was set in the same place, but the storylines were far different in each episode. Also, there were lots of main characters. It didn't just focus on one old, angry Jew.

reply

I have to agree, people need to go back and watch the first season of Cheers, it's an incredible show, the writing is fantastic, amazing supporting cast, it's one of the most underrated comedies of all time.

Unrelateable? *beep* in quite a few episodes of Curb I just think of how similar I think in comparison to Larry David on general day to day etiquette and situations, granted his personality is not for everyone, but I would say maybe not relateable to yourself, but to many people.

Granted it is a bit extreme of examples, but that is the point.

You will shed tears of scarlet

All I know is that my local channel showed Curb for about 2 months before they got so many complaints and switched it for Friends... Some people may find Curb funny, but I definitely don't think it's for everyone. And it's certainly not for me.

I'm glad someone spoke out against the very overrated CYE. It seems all my friends love the show and I cannot for the life of me see why. It's good for a chuckle every once in a while, but they're in their, what? ninth season? Can't believe anyone would watch someone attempt to be funny for so long.

Eighth.

Can't believe anyone would watch someone attempt to be funny for so long.

Believe, it because they do. Just focus on what you do like.

reply

I didn't think there was anyone else on this planet that also disliked Curb. Everyone I know loves that stuff.

What a relief.

Station please?

reply

TV36. Based in Oakland I believe... what difference does it make what station it was? hahaha

reply

curb is hilarious, you're such a douche for calling it horrible. that's just you being a hater.

reply

Yeah, heaven forbid I have my own opinions, right?

"Books and movies are apples and oranges. They're both delicious, but they don't taste the same."

reply

Because local TV stations censor it and dub it over with nonsensical crap. Very much like the non sense that your pea brain is producing.

P.S.
Popus mi kurac, pedercino!

reply

I watched it on cable too... and still hated it. It's not funny. It's just an old man yelling. What's funny about it? It might've been better if he was one of the main characters in an ensemble cast like Friends or Seinfeld, but to base an entire show around him was a mistake. I get maybe one decent smirk from each episode. That's not enough to keep me watching... but agree to disagree I guess. I'm not shallow enough to call someone a "pea brain" for having a different opinion than me.

reply

I don't need a laughtrack to recognize humor.

reply

I like plenty of shows that don't have laugh tracks... what's that got to do with anything? Curb is still terrible.

reply

So.. what kind of comedies do you like ?

I find Curb to be the funniest comedy on television. The situations are hilarious and it reminds me of Seinfeld's best episodes.. but the approach is so much funnier!

Well, opinions.

reply

you're definitely entitled to your own opinion, that has nothing to do with you sounding like a douche because of that opinion. "t.v. can't get any worse" that's a douchebag statement about a show that has done well. If the comedy is over your head and you don't get, so be it tho.

reply

Once again, that's my opinion. And I'm entitled to it. I find it to be one of the most overrated shows on TV... you can like it if you want. I'm not judging. I'm just saying that I think it's a terrible show.

And please explain to me how it's "over my head"? Because I don't find an old man yelling at people in EVERY EPISODE to be hilarious? Find a new plotline, Larry...

reply

CYE is a terrible show for shallow, mean-spirited people.

reply

I agree that Curb Your Enthusiasm was a dog.
It was like Seinfeld with just the George story lines.
A loser you really don't like, not a nice guy.
Jerry was a nice guy, and while he had adventures he was not a born loser like Larry.

reply

Watch the newest season of curb, the seinfeld season as many call it. Then watch the last seasons of seinfeld after larry left. There is a noticeable drop in quality.

reply

[deleted]

Curb actually showed me that Larry was the real talent behind Seinfeld. And then added a fresh new format to that brand of humor. I don't think tv gets much better.
So I guess if people made shows according to your view of quality, I'd be asking the same question you are now.

reply

'Curb' could have offended a lot of people. Larry David's humor is irreverent, to say the least. OP was probably offended by one of the taboo subjects Curb touched upon: politics, religion, sexual molestation, child sexuality, etc.

If not, then he's just...not too bright. Seinfeld is just Curb but for the masses; with much less intelligence and much more political correctness.

reply

too many heebs in this show. Annoyance factor was a 10+
