So just because it has audience laughter makes it bad?

I think it's pathetic to rip on this show mainly because it was TAPED IN FRONT OF A STUDIO AUDIENCE. Yeah they use laugh tracks to sweeten the real reaction, but it was taped in front of an audience. I know someone who went. Guess she was just dreaming then.

So it's not "The Office" or "30 Rock." Doesn't mean you have to rip on this show just because it's a standard sitcom.

I know it wasn't GREAT but it was still good to me.

Everyone is entitled to his opinion. Some people find laugh tracks annoying.

They don't bother me -- unless the sitcom really isn't funny. Then, the laugh tracks call attention to the fact that the jokes flopped. You hear all this laughter over something that obviously was not funny. It's almost embarrassing.

We should just let this turkey die a quiet death -- with a little dignity.

Yeah I know people have opinions but to hate it or not watch it just because it has audience laughter is just stupid. With some shows, that's like skipping out on having ice cream just because it's in a regular cone and not a waffle cone.

That's quite an analogy.

I seriously doubt the laugh track kept people from watching.

People stopped watching because they didn't think it was funny. Period.

I'm not arguing the merits of the show. I didn't love it or loathe it. I'm just stating the facts: If people liked it, they would have watched, the ratings would have been acceptable, and it wouldn't have been canceled.

Attracting an audience to sell air time to sponsors is the bottom line.

Actually, you're stating conjecture.

The ratings only proved how many people actually watched, not how "liked" or "funny" the show was or, indeed, anything else which is *completely subjective*.

And the fact the show got cancelled only proves that someone in the network thinks a different show could potentially attract higher ratings - it's as simple as that.

No, some people are like "this show sucks because it has a laugh track."

You're entitled to your opinion, but you're trying too hard to spin the facts.

Doesn't it stand to reason that if people thought something was funny, they'd LIKE IT and that would give them reason to WATCH?

And, the converse is true: If something isn't funny, people wouldn't care for it, and would have no reason to watch.

Sure, the ratings only show how many sets were tuned in at a given time. But, there has to be a reason why people are tuned in -- or not.

That is, unless people just don't bother to switch stations when a mundane show is scheduled between two shows that ARE favorites.

Apparently, not enough people were tuned in to this one, for whatever reason.

"You're entitled to your opinion, but you're trying too hard to spin the facts."

If rightfully correcting your sweeping-statement-dressed-up-as-actual-fact is trying too hard, then so be it. Your theory about *why* this show didn't get higher ratings (i.e. people didn't like it and didn't think it was funny) is just that - a theory. It is not you "stating fact" at all, because you can't possibly know the real reason for absolute certainty. The "don't like" "not funny" reason will be true for some people, of course, but you simply can't speak for everyone and call it fact without *asking* everyone.

In your analysis of the above you're making the common, but nonetheless mistaken assumption that something not chosen must therefore be unliked. If I opt to watch something else instead of "Better With You", it doesn't mean I don't like "Better With You". It only means the other option is more appealing to me. What about those who never watched "Better With You" even once because their favourite show was on another channel at the same time. How can you possibly claim that they didn't like it and they didn't think it was funny if they never EVER watched?

I've always said that choosing to watch a TV show is a bit like voting for your favourite finalist in Idol. If I only vote for my favourite in the final, you would also be wrong to assume that I won't buy the album of the runner-up without at least asking me.

Which brings me back to my point. The only thing which is a fact are those ratings - that not enough people watched the show for a TV exec to make the decision to renew it. Anything else is just a theory.

I stated my opinion.

Believe whatever you choose.

It really doesn't matter.
