I think Julia Roberts would have been an incredible Stephanie...

......too bad that she would be too old to even be considered.....even though she is not old by any means!!

Sandra Bullock as Stephani.
Christopher Meloni as Morelli.
Benjamin Bratt as Ranger.
Betty White or Olympia Dukakis as Grandma Mazur.
Danny Aiello as Stephnie's dad.
Kath Bates as Stephnie's mom.

Sherry Shepard was perfectly cast.

rating: 1/10

Oh I 'love' this cast!!! And Sandy would be even better than Julia.....and Chris Meloni perfect!

I always said Betty White for Grandma, she would have been hilarious. Also Loni Love for Lula. I love Bratt and Meloni.

Perfect cast list :) Today, that cast would push the budget over 100 million dollars, though with a better screenwriter and director (Christ, imagine what Soderberg could have done with this material with Julia Roberts as Steph?) the domestic box office would double that, instead of what happened here.

I think the problem is that they treated Evanovich's material like it was Danielle steel or (most) Stephen King, and they tried to make this film on the cheap. Couple that with the Lifetime Network casting, and it was clear they were targeting a TV audience. The pacing was so poor, the exposition sloppy, and the execution lackluster.

So yeah, Evanovich's stories and characters deserved much better.

Still, watching it from the perspective of someone who didn't know the source material, it was a fun Sunday afternoon kind of movie. Fluffy like cotton candy, and as forgettable afterwards.

(and Katherine Heigl is charming)

that may be a good cast list, i'm not denying that but Sandra Bullock would also be to old for the cast, even though she also isn't old. it makes sense to cast someone who is about 30 years old & "KH" is about that age. she's what 33 now.

& if they keep making these films she can age along with the character "Bullock' is in her 40's now.

How about Kat Dennings as Stephanie Plum? She's funny and at least You'd have something to look at.

Julia Roberts is highly overrated as an actress and no way could she have pulled off a Jersey Girl any more than Snooki could pull of a Southern Belle.

Christopher Meloni: now he would have been a Morelli that anyone could love.

reply

Really...no way she could do it....overrated?/ Is this your opinion or is this something that is based in fact??
Comparing her talent to Snooki seems a bit like a personal problem you have with her cause obviously Erin Brockovitch proved she had definitely talent.

reply

Yeah, Kat Dennings would be great!

Oh Lord Noooooooooooooo I've seen enough of her movies{use to like her earlier movies, but now I'm so over her and that f'ng fake laugh) -- she's too old for the part now and shes also not the "it" girl, not saying Heigl is the "it" girl either, but Emma Stone woulda kicked ass in this movie. but i actually like heigl (for once) in a movie - she's so full of herself. also wanna add that jennifer garner would've been great - she can do physical comedy and i think would fit the role perfect -- so either emma stone or jennifer garner would've been better.

I think Cobie Smulders would make a good Stephanie Plum. I like Emma Stone but she's too young and always seems to play the same type of roles, I can't picture it.

Ya know, the "powers that be" did the same thing with V.I. Warshovki and Kathleen Turner--excellent dooks by Sara Paretsky...awesome actress...just bombed with the movie. Disappointing.
