Does this really happen every year ? Do they have celebrities doing it like the Xmas lights in uk ?

It's lame...and nobody outside of America actually watches it; yet America goes on like the world is waiting for it!
The Sydney Harbor fireworks *beep* all over it; as do the Eiffel Tower lights and fireworks; and the London Tower lights and fireworks.
