LA screening

If anyone gets word of this film's presentation in LA, please let me know! Likewise, if I find out anything myself, I'll pass it along here.

TM doesn't need to be "exposed." Nothing does. People need to wake up, one at a time, and take their own time to experience and evaluate things without having opinions shoved down their throats and following them like sheep.

I tried TM in 1978 and after one year simply, quietly moved on from that without making a fuss and damning it publicly. I mean, following a critic of TM is the same as following a preacher of TM. There is no way to learn and grow other than listening to your own instincts, making your own mistakes (without which there can be no real learning), and then taking your own next step.

So my take on this film is (1) I wouldn't have gone as far as the director did before quitting TM (all those silly costumes), (2) I wouldn't put up with the on-off relationship with that girl who loves to get excited about things then runs off to NY again and again, (3) I wouldn't put $100,000,000 into something so ethereal so easily, and (4) bless them all, they are all exploring their own path, as I am, as David is, as we all are - and we all have fuses of different lengths.

BTW the film is now available online here:

Pay a small one-time fee, or an even smaller (~$3/month) to watch as many fine films as you like at this excellent site.

I recently was taught TM, and I enjoy practicing it, but what I appreciated about this documentary was that it exposed how ridiculously expensive TM is. How would Maharishi's alleged dream of "World Peace" ever be accomplished when TM prices range from thousands to millions? And was Maharishi even a disciple of Guru Dev at all, or merely his bookkeeper? Revelations like this made me angry. I'm sure the kid who made this movie was pained to learn all this stuff (and even more pained when David Lynch tried to sue him), but I'm grateful this film was made. For all his faults, Maharishi did encourage skepticism, and this documentary is excellent skepticism.
