waste of time

this film was really stupid

****spoilers ahead*****

first of all, i love Asterix, both the cartoons and the cartoon movies, and the first two feature film wasn't too bad too, but this is just a big piece of garbage
i just don't get it why they mixed it up with the Asterix and the Vikings plot - it was just a cartoon not so long time ago - the short a sensless and pointless viking thing was really dumb even with the little Clockwork Orange reference (thet was the only good joke in the film, and it was ment for the adults, and only those adults, who knew the Kubrick film (or the Burgess book)
the original plot of Asterix in Britian is much better (both the book and the cartoon film) and while it has some reminescents of the original, the whole plot of this is just a big mess
and it wasn't even funny, Asterix was a real jerk, only Obelix (Depardieau) saved the day but just a little bit

I was a fan of the comics and I loved the first 2 movies. But after the travesty of the last Asterix movie, I won't bother watching this one. Thanks for the "spoilers". I'm sure now I don't want to watch it.

I consider the second Asterix movie one of the best comedies of all times (might be caused by excellent Polish dubbing). Shame they couldn't keep the level with the rest of the movies.

I don't quite understand your point, since this movie in Polish version has even more excellent Polish dubbing ;) I don't know, if all the jokes were in original version, or invented by a dubbing team. ...Unless you are annoyed by putting English words in Polish dialogues, to show, that the Britons are speaking. Anyway, in my opinion, the effect is hilarious :)

Polish dubbing, is that not where you have the original language audio track running in the background, while one single dude provides the dubbing for all characters on top of it?
That's how i have spotted them doing it on satellite TV.

You are right, that a single dude (called "lector") is the most popular form of translating films in Polish TV, but by dubbing it is understood, that all voices are dubbed by actors. Films with a single lector might seem strange for non-Polish speakers, but the audience is accustomed to it, and also I prefer such form over dubbing. You can at least hear voices of original actors and their emotion, and there are no misalignments (although subtitles are obviously better). On the other hand, it is funny, when the characters uses f* words, and you hear slight swearing or none at all translated :)

Dubbing works only in cartoons and comedies (like this one), maybe poor action movies, but not in serious art. Having said this, I find dubbing in this Asterix as excellent and hilarious.

Couldn´t agree more. What was up with the actor? He looked so bored and uninterssted in everything, and I guess the writting did no help eather.
