New viewer question

So I just started this up on Netflix-super cute I love it. I have a question, though. I feel like some of these episodes are out of order, and some things don't get explained. In season one Holly breaks up with Ryder, then 2 episodes later they are back together with no explanation? Season 2 Lennox is about to lose her virginity to that student council president or whatever, then the very next episode she is telling some different guy she wants to date him? I also feel like Lennox was the popular girl at her old school, then becomes the artsy liner girl at her new one? I'm just a little confused on the time line of some of these stories. Don't even get me started on Joe's hair from episode to episode...
