Who Buys This Junk?.....

I'd really like to see some shows that show WHO buys this junk from them and what the buyers do with it. Now, that would be interesting.

Mike constantly flaps his gums about how old signs are their bread and butter. And, we're supposed to take his word for it? I haven't see a sign yet that I would pay the kind of money he pays for them.

He pays $1800, $2400 at a clip for "signage." It would be interesting to see who buys this stuff -- IF there are any buyers at all.

Personally, I think they make most of their salary from the TV show, and being "pickers" to earn a living is just a ruse, a big act.

All their picks belong to the History Channel. No one buys this stuff.
Everything in their "store" is labeled not for sale.
It's just TV. Show business, that's all.

Yes, I've heard this from others. Thanks for the input.

I've always had the feeling that "the pick" is all show, and nothing more.

And, we're still supposed to believe that there is a market for rusty, dented signs and dirty old oil cans? It's a little insulting.

As Frank would say, "It makes a nice display piece." I'd like to see what kind of barn he lives in!

Signage and similar items are quite popular in the antique world...don't see them doing the prices you mentioned but since I don't watch their show often I don't know if the prices you quoted are correct...either way...yeah junk has a market!

I'm quite sure that one man's junk is another man's treasure. But, I'd specifically like to see where some of their junk winds up.

Mike makes such a fuss over things: pieces of this, rusted that, things with broken with missing pieces. He pays big money, and we're supposed to believe he can move this stuff?

I'd like to see where it goes.

Frank bought a tail gate from a Ford truck that had "Ford" embossed on it. He said it would look nice hung on a wall! -- Maybe if you're Pappy Yokum.

I think he bought an oil can for 3 to 5 thousand dollars.

I don't know how realistic the amounts they give are but I have certainly been to places that have bought that kind of stuff in the past and displayed them. In some cases its just antique stuff they are buying you can find at antique stores...it just happens to be in some of those peoples junk piles

There are antique and vintage stores full of the kind of stuff they buy, at high prices. I might buy some of those items, but only if they were a lot cheaper. Some of the things they buy, like old motorcycles and bicycles, end up getting sold to guys who restore them. Once restored, they are worth a fortune.
