Its tough to watch.

I really like the premise of the show, and I always like to see the crazy properties and get a history lesson. My,problem with the show for me is the stars. I find them annoying and boring.

"Why don't you go back to your home on Whore Island?"

That has been the major complaint since S1/Ep01....

Only here at the traditionally poisonous IMDB boards - most people enjoy the show (and its stars), but don't bother posting here due to the IMDB board's traditional negativity. No way the show would have lasted all these years if the "majority" view was that expressed in IMDB.

One only has to look at the show's rating of 6.9 - most people will deem to vote but only the most vociferous (i.e., the haters) will typically bother to post comments.

I like the cast, I think they're hilarious - Lauren's my fav, but I love watching Mike get stressed and/or excited, he's so passionate about his work :)

michelle... "Fans" don't seem to have trouble posting on the "real" show Boards.. that is.. shows that aren't cheaply produced Infomercial frauds.. check out THE BIG BANG THEORY Board for example... lots of "Fan" discussions going on there.

I think these cheaply produced, garbage "Reality" shows are not as popular as the slime balls in charge of Cable TV claim they are... check out the zap2it Daily 100 Cable Shows list... fewer and fewer "Realities" with reruns of the SIMPSONS and FAMILY GUY taking most of the spots.

No offense, but if you like and enjoy the show.. why didn't you start a "Fan" thread ?

Regarding the IMDb ratings.. I would say that most of the 8 to 10 votes are old votes when the show was "popular"... if people were able to change their vote.. IMO.. AMERICAN PICKERS et al.. the ratings would be much lower.

"Reality" shows are still on all these years, because they are so cheap to produce, and the Cable Channels have to keep them coming back to give them the "illusion" of success.

Really? Start a fan thread? With all the traditional IMDB negativity constantly poisoning these boards? No thanks, I'll stick with the silent majority and continue to enjoy the show.

At least I spend my time doing things I like, as opposed to continually watching shows I despise.

Your intelligent responses are very refreshing, michelle. It boggles the mind how many people spend their time dwelling and constantly commenting on things they don't like. My hubby and I enjoy spending the occasional lazy afternoon watching Pickers and Pawn Stars, we love the historical aspects as well as the humor. I've been reading so many negative comments in both shows' boards and have to wonder if some people keep watching just so they can find something else to complain about.

reply

Then instead of coming on a negative thread, about a cheaply produced piece of garbage show, on a piece of garbage channel that still has the nerve to call itself HISTORY.. and complaining about people complaining about that piece of garbage show.. why don't you start a "fan" thread where you can discuss with other fans how " My hubby and I enjoy spending the occasional lazy afternoon watching Pickers and Pawn Stars, we love the historical aspects as well as the humor."

You're just wasting your time here. Maybe after ten years of this garbage programming, people are finally getting tired of the cesspool Cable YV has become ? Maybe they want to post their displeasure, and you and others posting worn out rhetoric, isn't going to change any of their minds, and is simply.. rude.

No, it's you who are wasting your time here. Why don't you go create a complaints forum? Your puerile, incessant cesspool of negativity hasn't made the show go away in the last 10 years and you're just going to have to put up with the fact that the show is still popular and nothing you say or do will have any effect on that.

You constantly spew out negativity and become defensive when called on it, yet you can't abide people voicing their appreciation without calling for them to go away. What a miserable individual you must be. How rich that you're guilty of everything you accuse others of saying.

And with that, I've put you on ignore. So wallow to someone else.

Whaaaaaattttttt ??????????? Hey... you're the one that came to me... I didn't hold a gun to your head to interrupt the discussion going on here.. if you don't like to hear complaints about a piece of garbage TV show... don't read negative threads... stick to "Fan" threads.. I promise you, I won't bother you there.

Now back to the topic... all these cheaply produced, faked, scripted, staged Infomercials are tough to watch...

Its still Lieutenant razor daddio

I remember reading your comments a year or two ago on the Pawn Stars page. Berating the history channel. You are obviously a smart person. Why are you still doing this? Let it be. Let go. We support you.

You know the old expression, "misery likes company", thus the troll continues to try and spread his negativity to any and all who will listen. Just do yourself a favour and put him on ignore, it transforms the IMDB experience very positively.

I still love watching the show and its ratings are still strong, so it will likely continue for a good while yet :D

If you haven't noticed, this is a complaint thread. Why would you come to a thread titled as such to voice your displeasure of it. I personally enjoy reading these type threads. And frankly, you bore me. Oh, and by the way, put me on your ignore list too because that's a real mature solution to all your problems in life, just ignore them.

reply

Done!

And just to make a valid counterpoint, in case you haven't noticed any thread that talks about positive aspects of the show quickly gets taken over by haters. So suck it up.

And with that, you're now non-existent to me - you're probably just one of the resident troll's many sockpuppets anyway :D

Misery likes company, as they say, so it's not altogether surprising to find people spewing their negative opinions on the boards in the hopes of convincing others to be of like mind.

I have no problem with users who come and post their complaints and then leave - it's the incessant ones that post hundreds of repeated posts complaining about the same things ad infinitum and that immediately attack opinions differing from their own in order to silence any differing views (or worse, telling such posters to "go away") - they are among the worst of the internet "bullies".

Obviously the networks look at the hard stats (i.e., viewership) and determine that a show is successful and keep it going. Ironically the rabid haters who continue to watch these shows contribute to its longevity with their continued viewing :)

I've chatted with both Danielle and Lauren on FB and Twitter and they are lovely people - we've even discussed ideas for future episodes, so hopefully some of them will come to pass :)

You know what, it should surprise me but in a way it doesn't - I've run into his type on occasion on the boards, the ones who spend most of their free time spreading negativity wherever they can, the "dark clouds" of IMDB if you will.

The moment I saw he was harping on his rights to complain while telling people who posted positive things about the show to go elsewhere, I knew he was the worst kind of troll - and thus put him thenceforth on ignore.

It's weird how some people constantly watch shows they hate - I prefer to watch the shows I like and ignore the former. Seems like a much healthier thing to do, doesn't it? ;)

Yes it certainly does. And as you can see by the (deleted) post above yours, he again went crying to one of the admins here about how he was "being attacked" when I posted about the **thousands** of posts he's made under multiple aliases in a relatively short time frame. Because aside from his SSD check showing up once a month, this guy CLEARLY has nothing else going on. No life, no friends, CLEARLY no female companionship, no hobbies, no interests- nothing at all. Literally an empty, meaningless, lonely existence.

reply

Happily I don't see his posts as I've put him on ignore, but it doesn't surprise me at it fits with his behaviour pattern.

Amazing that someone could put so much time and energy into loathing everything - much saner to focus on things we like rather than things we hate, right? :D

Your negativity and bitterness (exemplified by all your posts) is hilarious. Your hatred and anger towards the straw men you've created in your delusional mind express your myriad mental maladies. Tsk tsk tsk
