Travis' punishment

so i may have missed this being explained but why was travis sentenced to death for a robbery that seems a little harsh punishment. then when jake confessed he only got 6 months!? i dont get how that makes sense?

It was his third strike. That was the whole point of the entire arc - that three strikes legislation needs to go, because it gives overly harsh punishments for minor crimes.

You really didn't catch the premise of an entire story arc that went for almost a full season??

The Three-Strike punishment is once you have been convicted 3 times, for the same thing I think (may be wrong on this one,) you recieve a life sentence! Not the actual death pen.

OK im lost exactly which episode said he was on death row? far as i knew he was just sentenced to jail for way more years then he should have been considering it was a minor offence and thats what the 3 strikes rule was about not about the death penalty they never actually used those words in any ep i remember and i just watched them all over the last week
