Did you feel bad for Elena when she was just trying to make her point? Later on glad they worked well together.

Hobbs stated it perfectly... he didn't care what the story was, he just wanted to catch them and do his job - that's the point HE was trying to convey to Elena.

I did think he was pretty rude in his attitude to her at that point but that was the image they were trying to portray for the character: his way or no way, and too obsessive to waste time on manners. Hobbs is basically Sam Gerard from The Fugitive taken to an extreme. Both men seem to discover a much needed humility in the search for their latest quarry.
