How can anyone advertise this second rate rip-off as an original series? Nevermind that Outrageous Fortunes had already had a rip-off with the British series Honest, but now the Yanks are giving it a go again. Why not simply buy the Original? As far as I know they also speak English in NZ, so no need to add subtitles for the illiterate American audience.
shareAside from quite a bit of local vocabulary that isn't shared, there are censorship issues, season length issues, marketability concerns(who's going to watch a show that you can buy or download), the one thing about doing an adaptation(not a rip-off) is that it does give us the chance to get a better show.
The show most definitely had its rough spots, and it didn't hit its stride until later on. That plus actors always leaving(Bowler and Chitham) put limits on the show.
I don't know where you are from, or why you feel you have to be so rude, but you don't have to watch the show.
What can I say? American tv likes to do its own versions of successful shows from other countries, and most of the time it sucks. The U.S. version of "Coupling" fell flat. On the other hand, "The Office" worked. Some things translate better than others.
I'd love to see the New Zealand show.
