This is on the way out

The writing is worse, there's no dramatic tension like there was with the black mayor, the female characters are snippy and unlikable -- when Linda departed, so did the warmth -- and I just don't buy the "romance" between Eddie and Jamie. No sparks fly. They're actually becoming The Bickersons.

They're going to have to infuse some life into this thing next year, or it's going to be its last. Even Selleck only signed for one more year. What does that tell ya?

reply

In an interview published last weekend, Selleck said that would have signed a multi-year contract, but the network was only offering one year deals.

reply

Well, the network not having enough confidence in it beyond one year speaks volumes.

This is definitely on the way out. TV in general seems to be cleaning out cupboards and gearing up for a revitalized fresh slate for the 2020 era. I still find the show enjoyable, largely cause of my interest & investment in the characters, but it feels pretty played out. Do we want to watch another ten years of this with retired Selleck playing the grandpa at the table? Let it go out strong.

reply

Surprising it has lasted so long on a Friday night.
