HEAPING FURTHER SHAME ON THE LAZY-ASS PRODUCERS

Funny that Nicolas Turturro was on this show as well as on original castmember on the show I am about to mention, NYPD BLUE. NYPD BLUE had new credits every season. In fact, Season 8 had 4 versions alone and making BLUE BLOODS look even worse is that when Kim Delaney quit just 2 episodes shy of the season finale, the last 2 episodes had credits reflective of Delaney's departure. So I can watch NYPD BLUE and not just know which season I happen to be watching, but certain part of the season, like in Season 7 when Turturro quit and was followed by the arrival of Henry Simmons. Adding more shame is Season 2 of NYPD BLUE when Amy Brenneman left after the first 2 episodes and David Caruso leaving after the first 4. They were out almost as soon as the season began, but both actors had new screencaps to reflect where the show was at that time, yet these lazy POS producers flat-out REFUSE to add the 4 actors most deserving of the honor-Robert Clohessy, Gregory Jbara, Marissa Ramirez and Vanessa Ray. Jesus H. Christ, how much more evidence must I bring to get you people to see this?

Unlike NYPD BLUE, it is impossible to know what season you're watching unless it's Season 7 and Jamie is sporting a military buzzcut. Look at BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER which in Season 4, had 3 main sequences, as well as SUPERSTAR which was a 1-time only thing to reflect the way Jonathan Levinson used magic to make himself the grand poobah of Sunnydale. Danny Strong was added from certain scenes in the credits.

How many threads are you going to start on this topic? Seriously, you've expressed yourself already (in none-so-gentle terms, I might add) so why keep beating the dead horse? If it really upsets you THAT MUCH, complain to someone who can actually do something about it.

~ ~ ~

I'm copying/pasting what I wrote on one of the other threads:

Here's a clue: this is basically a show about the Reagan family. Blue Bloods, as in the blood of family. Frank, Danny, Erin, Jamie, and Henry are the core of the show. The 'heart and soul' of it, if one wants to get poetic about it. If you weren't born a Reagan you don't belong in the opening sequence.

So, while Garret, Baez, Sid, and Eddie, etc., may appear in most episodes--or even all of them--they're not headliners.

~ ~ ~

And here's a copy/paste of what I wrote on the other other thread:

I don't think the purpose of the credit sequence is to let people know what year it is. In case you haven't noticed, many shows no longer even have opening sequences, at least not the kind that show/list the actors. Like commercials, most people don't watch credit sequences anymore, thanks to DVR and delayed viewing, so more and more shows are moving away from it entirely.

How about a show currently on the air, on the same network? THE LATE SHOW WITH STEVEN COLBERT, premiered on Tuesday September 8th, 2015 before the show's first anniversary on the air went from the original tilt-frame treatment with which the series debuted and during the week of the Republican National Convention introduced the sequence now seen. You say in the age of DVR that nobody watches the credits anymore so why does MODERN FAMILY always keep in step with the growth of the child actors? You didn't see Ella & Jaden Heller in Season 4 after Aubrey Emmons was hired at the start of Season 3 just as you don't see Pierce Wallace in the intro as Joe Pritchett after Jeremy Maguire was hired. You don't see a younger, goofier looking Luke after Nolan Gould grew up the most out of all the child actors. Also, Lily used to be held by Cameron and Mitchell, but Emmons has been seen standing in front since Season 5 because she grew. 0ver on cable, the FX machine THE AMERICANS, nothing stale or tired over there on the spy show. 0r another CBS hit, CRIMINAL MINDS. I definitely know which season I'm watching by the credits alone. I have a right to the same quick reference here. Play the intros to NYPD BLUE and I can cite season and version. How much f\/cking longer are we gonna see Danny walking down the alley or Henry at the dinner table, Jamie at his graduation? Give us something new after a near decade already!

reply

You need to get out more.

reply

THE VIEW is on, about to 20 years old in 2017, a new intro every season showing what the hosts look like at that time every year. A show that always stays current. You see Joy Behar today, not Joy Behar 2000.

WHO GIVES A CRAP?!

reply

Either you are a troll, putting everyone on, or you are seriously wacked. It's insane to post your screed over and over again, expecting some sort of action.

reply

0ld saying is put yourself in another's shoes, well put yourself into Vanessa Ray's uniform. You have been on since the show started. You have also seenthe launch of HAWAII 5-0 and how that show immediately added Masi 0ka, Michelle Borth, Chi McBride and Jorge Garcia to the credits and also have new credits every season. You have been on just as long as Will Estes who plays your partner and you still languish as nothing more than a glorified guest star on a show that has done next to nothing to update THEIR credits. If I were Vanessa Ray I would feel like quite a jerkoff. A full credit upgrade like what CSI did in Season 6 would give not just Vanessa Ray, but Marissa Ramirez, Robert Clohessy, Gregory Jbara, the Terraciano brothers and Abigail Hawk the equal billing they so richly deserve but have been disgracefully denied because the producers are too lazy to start from scratch.

reply

Vanessa Ray joined the show in the 4th season.

reply

Honest mistake, but do you see H 5-0 stringing along any recurring long term actor? No, because Peter Lenkov unlike Mitchell Burgess & Robin Green sees that service deserves rewarding and Masi 0ka who started in Season 1, was added for Season 2, Michelle Borth who started in Season 2, was added in Season 3. You don't see the image of Grace Park in the blue dress from the series premiere do you? No, because that was a Season 1 image and has no place in the Season 7 credits. Would be nice If this show could keep it fresh, current and respectful of long term actors.

reply

Is this conversation still going on?  I think you and I are wasting our breath in replying to this mess.

Yeah, Hawaii Five-O seems to add a 'major' character every season, so they pretty much have to update their credits. Daytime talk shows aren't comparable to prime-time dramas, so that comparison is an apples-to-oranges thing. And as I pointed out to this guy in another post, Blue Bloods is about a FAMILY, so the FAMILY members are the only ones in the opening sequence. And since they're all adults and look the same as they did a couple years ago, there's no burning need to update it. Yeah, sure, they could change things (although I like some of the images in the opening), but they don't have to. We should be lucky this show even has an opening sequence. (And contrary to this guy's belief, the purpose of opening credits is not to tell us what season it is.)

reply

0k, let's go with your argument that the intro is a Reagans only sequence, then why have the Terraciano brothers never been added? Amy Carlson & Sami Gayle languished until Season 4 and why are we still forced to look at stale Season 1 images? Why not fresh, new Reagan screencaps? How about Frank in Lower Manhattan, Danny going after Nikki's kidnapper? With the exceptions of Carlson & Gayle, not a single clip from the credits showcases the family in 0bama's second term, in fact, there is nothing of the time before the Republican takeover of the House 0f Representatives. Going back to the family aspect, I will cite you THE SOPRANOS, granted that show never had a sequence showing the images of the cast, but you never saw the star billing restricted solely to James Gandolfini, Edie Falco, Jamie-Lyn Sigler, Robert Iler, Nancy Marchand & Aida Turturro, did you? 0n THE SOPRANOS, If you were a lead actor, you always got the billing to match, so that throws your family argument out the window.

reply

Oh, well, if that's what they did on The Sopranos, then yeah, by all means, every show about a family has to do the exact same thing. 

reply

If MODERN FAMILY(family in the title) can keep Itself up to speed factoring in the growth and puberty of the child actors, then we can get modern day Reagan footage.

reply

Modern Family has children on the show, whose looks can change from the beginning of one season to the end. As I mentioned earlier, the characters on BLue Bloods are all adults, and they all look pretty much the same now as they did last season, or the season before. (Jamie's dorky buzzcut notwithstanding.)

reply

0k, what about the Reagans seen doing recent things? All 3 NCIS shows are updated every year. You don't watch a Season 14 episode of NCIS and see in the credits Gibbs talking photos of Lt. Singer from the JAG Season 8 episode ICE QUEEN anymore do you? No, that was out after Season 2. Not only does NCIS have new credits every season, but since Season 12, have had in the credits of each episode, snippits from that episode. 0n this show Sami Gayle only got halfway there because only her name is seen but she has no screencap which is why If these lazy a$$holes followed suit with CSI in Season 6 and started from scratch employing the same image overload used for that show, EVERYBODY could finally get it. Look at ANGEL, every long term castmember on that show had images retired after 2 seasons. Wesley brandishing the crossbow in his Season 1 introduction PARTING GIFTS was never seen again after Season 2. Wake up and take a whiff of reality, you have no case. The producers are too lazy to keep their credits current.

reply

Lol, funny you should mention NCIS. Obviously that show updates its credits when new major characters come in, but other than those new characters--that is, for the veteran characters--the credit sequences stays the same for years. In fact, it's only now, in the current fifteenth season, that they did away with two very iconic scenes in the sequence-- scenes that are from the first season, and have been included all along. And people have commented, remarking sadly that those scenes are gone.

reply

Dumbass, it IS Season 14, not 15 and none of the old guard actors have the same images from Season 1. What the f\/ck are you talking about?

reply

do you even WATCH THE SHOWS.........or just the credits???? Somebody needs a new hobby, or shrink, I'm thinking. Ever heard the expression "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff......AND IT'S ALL "SMALL STUFF"?? The credits have jacksh!t to do with the significance of an episode, you are clearly suffering from a DSM-V disorder that unless/until you get treatment for, you are only going to make yourself more and more unsettled and unhappy - please, with all due respect, get help. There is NO "weakness" in acknowledging that there are facets of Society that are problematic to cope, or deal with - you're not crazy....you're HUMAN. Please take care of yourself.

All the best

Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought an idiot - than to open it and remove all doubt!

Dear lord give this a rest. I would guess if the actors were not fine with this, then they would have spoken up. But I haven't heard a peep.
