Ato Essandoh plays that role well. Hope we see more

OMG! If I hadn`t read it on here I would NEVER have realized that the guy who played Rev. Potter was the same guy I just saw on Chicago Med!

reply

we have had that same stereotype in some other shows..can't think which shows and names...maybe 'Narcissus' or 'Adonis" or wtf his name was, in Boardwalk empire..but probably Potter is the most hate-able of all of them, yeah..

reply

He always cracks me up. I do hope he does appear again. Maybe for his next ep he can be on Frank's side or something like that. Mix it up.

reply

he can be on Frank's side

The only thing that would get them to work together would be something extraordinary. I have no idea what that could be, but, I would love to see what would cause them to work together.

The federal Marshall dude, he's an ass

I was just coming on to say the opposite. I've been binge watching, and now another Potter episode with his cult followers is on. For me it's gotten to the point of skipping an episode if I know this freak is in it. I sincerely hope season 7 and beyond does not have him, except maybe as a murder victim. Yeah, kill the character, that works for me!

Potter needs to go to prison. The ultimate embarrassment for his sleeze ball, racist azz.

I was shocked to realize that the same actor plays Alfredo on Elementary (Sherlock's sponsor). He does a great job of looking so completely different as Alfredo.

If he's going to be in another show this fall, he might not be on Elementary either. Which will be too bad, because he's an interesting and very likable character (albeit a rather minor one).

I am really surprised no native New Yorker has not pointed at the parallels
between Rev Potter and NYC's own Rev Al Sharpton.

reply

Yeah no kidding. His character is so obviously based on Al Sharpton. I knew it the first time the character appeared on the show. They both belong in jail.

reply

It's intentional. Rev Potter was based on Al Sharpton. In the original script, they had pictured Rev Potter as someone from the same generation as Al Sharpton/Jessie Jackson, but someone's agent convinced the show's casting department to look at a younger actor.

Sharpton is aF ucking piece ofS hit! You'll never see him come out of his dungeon unless it involves a race case. Talk about being a Racist! He, along with the media, are the biggest reasons why we have RACISM . Media( especially the News stations) are SCUMBAGS! Funny thing is when a lieutenant from Philadelphia beat up a handcuffed kid and nothing was done to the cop because he was BLACK. Shaking my head

I watched the episode last night where Danny goes after a perp and the guy jumps out of a window and claims that Danny pushed him. Potter riled up the community believing that Danny pushed him. In the end Frank turned Potter around embarrassing him and making him appear the fool that Potter is. I can't stand Potter.

I had an exchange with some young black female columnist a while back, Sharpton came up. She said something like 'you white people don't get Al Sharpton.."

I said, "oh,we get him just fine, we get him in a nanosecond, we are waiting for you to get him "

What's not to get, sister, we have been dealing with charlatans and 2-bit conmen and crooks and greaseballs for milenia.. unfortunately, as with some other dynamics in humanity, instead of right vs wrong, it becomes black vs white, my religious group vs yours, etc etc..sometimes the wrong even becomes the right, just because he bothers you..
