Fake Reviews

There are currently 5 reviews for Norm of the North on IMDb and after reading all of them I looked at each of their profiles individually. Here is what I found.

Two of the reviewers who gave it 10 stars have been members for about 2-3 years. When I looked at their profiles they both had nothing else on them except for their reviews of Norm of the North. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt though and say that maybe they had accounts for a while but it wasn't until they saw the genius that is Norm of the North that they felt the need to give it a perfect score while also throwing in some words about it.

Another account was only one day old, this time with two reviews: One for NotN, and one for La Leggenda del Titanic, an even lower-rated movie that he gave the perfect 10 as well. I will also give this guy a pass as maybe he was looking for his two favourite movies on IMDb one day and after seeing the horrible scores they have, he was obligated by his morals to sign up for IMDb and write outstanding reviews for these "treasures."

The fourth reviewer was a member for just under 2 months now and has a few more reviews under her belt, mostly kids movies, and is by far my favourite reviewer yet. She has a total of five reviews so far, all I would assume are perfect scores if the actual review is anything to go by, including Norm of the North, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, The Peanuts Movie, The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2, and The Night Before. The best part is that she watched all of them with her beloved son Muhammad. ...ahem...

... and The Night Before.

I would say that this is an odd choice to watch with your young son, but I'm not one to judge. This woman obviously just wants to watch family movies with her son and honestly enjoys them enough to give them 10/10.

The last reviewer I found for Norm of the North was the odd man out, only giving it a 1/10. Seriously: a 1/10. After clicking on his profile and seeing that he has been a member for four years, has multiple badges, over 3000 ratings, and 84 reviews, I have come to the conclusion that this is a troll. Why else would he give Norm of the North a 1/10?

This is why I really want IMDb to start monitoring reviews more to keep trolls like this guy from tarnishing beloved children's classics such as Norm of the North, and to keep IMDb safe for everyone else.

(But seriously, Norm of the North sucked)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got a laugh out of the belly dancer woman and her son Muhammad lol.

Update, two new reviews came in. One was like the rest, a blank profile with only a 10/10 for Norm, and the other has 11 ratings which go as follows, in descending order.

Pan's Laberynth - 10
Norm - 10
Sopranos - 10
Blue is the Warmest Color - 10
Breaking Bad - 10
Narcos - 10
Friday Night Lights - 10
How to Train your Dragon - 10
Big Hero 6 - 5
Jurassic World - 1
Game of Thrones - 1

This guy is confusing. I can't get a read on him. On one hand, he rated Supranos a 10, as well as Blue is the Warmest Color and Breaking Bad, but on the other hand he rated Norm a 10 and Game of Thrones a 1.

This person actually put conscious thought into making this decision and it is baffling why anyone would do anything remotely similar to this, let alone actually doing this. This cannot be undone now. This fact will now have forever been made.

This horrible animated movie is now becoming my life as I have to read each review for it as they come out. This is just mesmerizing to me for some reason and I can't figure out why.

I guess it just boils down to people having different opinions. I've rated things a 10 that I'm sure many people would not agree with. For me a 10 is a anything I enjoyed immensely.

For me a 10 is a movie that succeeds on both a technical and logical level but also grips me in. A completely flawless movie can be a 9, yet a flawed movie can be a 10 because it engages me more.

I am TheAnimatorOfficial. Everything is overrated, except when it's not.

I agree, I do the same probably. I just think this particular case is hilarious because most of them just scream out "SPAM" all over them. There's no way this movie was good enough to make multiple people rate it as their only movie on IMDb.

How could "ameeno from Italy" have seen the film, and given it his 10-star review on 15 January, if the film is not released in Italy until 5 February? Yes, there are preview screenings, but when the movie is bombing as badly as this is, and a month before its official release there? And how is the film "didactic"?

Excellent in every way.

I was really surprised that this movie is so excellent and funny in every way. There is real comedy, entertainment and action for every person to enjoy.

Surprisingly for me as an adult,I found this excellent movie quite hilarious, entertaining and didactic .

It is extremely unfair to see prejudice and injustice done to a great film like this, just because it was never released by Disney.

Critics have been exposed that they receive money and bribes from film companies to talk positively about any movie even if it was a rubbish movie. But since this film company did not offer any bribes to film critics, they attack it.

Honestly, despite the ruthless attack on this great family film,it will be number 1 soon in many countries.

Soon you will know that movie critics have been fooling you and defaming this masterpiece movie when you see its international success.

I don't know if I want someone at IMDb to do something about this or not. I don't want spam accounts flooding bad movies with good reviews, but I also find them incredibly entertaining to read.

With all due respect, reviews are a guiding light to give you some remote idea of what you can somewhat expect from a product. They aren't a concrete yes or no on whether or not you should experience it for yourself. Prime example: your confusion over why he would rate Game of Thrones a 1 is confusing to me. Believe it or not, not everyone thinks Game of Thrones is an international treasure. I happen to think it's bloody terrible....

It's ok to like or not like something contrary to someone else. Regardless, I have to admit that like you, it baffles me how ANYONE could give Norm of the North a freaking 10. To each his own I suppose.

That person with the son "Muhammad"...to me, there is no way that this person isn't a troll.

Yeah, I think most of the positive reviews are obviously trolls or people who have poor taste and don't know good art, animation, writing, characterization and storytelling even if it bit them in the butt.
