Why do they only put black leads when...

the character is disabled or crazy or has some other ailment? What's the deal with that?

And why is his daughter a white woman.

Wow, thanks for the link DeAd Mike 187. I thought it was very insightful. But why does Spike Lee have to be so negative about it? Having a Black character be a sounding board for the lead White protagonist is certainly better than much of the other negative stereotypes African-Americans have had to endure in ninety years of Hollywood cinema.

Personally, I'm glad Danny Glover took such an counter-intuitive role. I should hope that Black America has gotten past the need to be validated by portrayals in movies and television.

You want to bet Danny Glover in his arrogance jumped at the chance to play Ahab?

A really stupid question Bobbeh88--Why did they put a white man in the lead when the character was disabled and crazy? You do know that the original character Ahab was white, played by a white actor--one with real talent, not just an overpaid B-grade actor with aspirations of being great.

Watch the original movie, see what a great actor can do with the role.

I know, right?!

**SPOILER ALERT**

The daughter is adopted. Also I checked the actress's profile, she is actually bi-racial with Moroccan heritage.
