Why is she looking for an apartment if she lives in a dorm? Did I miss something?

She moved out of the dorm because the semester was over. She needed a place for the summer, like someone already pointed out.

the fact that she wanted an apartment for the summer is annoying. Whats so bad about going home for the sumemr?

Erm, because she spent 18 years at home and wants to stay in her new home? She's not judging people who go home, you're freaking over nothing.
