Charlie and Todd's Staff

Just an observation really, but it occurred to me that at the start of the season, Charlie was completely alone. He didn't interact with his own staff and kept a very separate life. In the first episode, Todd chooses to sit with his own staff over Charlie, because he doesn't want to be that kind of manager. They remained friends, and over the course of this year, Charlie has been interacting with Todd's staff more and more. It occurred to me rewatching the first episode of mid-season that he was sitting with Todd, Asha and Manmeet seeming absolutely comfortable with them. That's probably why he was so quick to forgive Todd for dating Tanya and lying about it. Not just because he'd do the same, but because he really has no life outside of him and his staff.

I think that's one of the problems the show faces. They want to have at least one other American character as to not completely isolate Todd (and the viewers). Because most of the ensemble cast is Todd's office, though, it's hard to have Charlie (and Tonya, for that matter) be prominent characters in a convincing way. Both of them are only really connected to Todd, but to be part of the ensemble they have to interact with his staff as well.
