Todd/Tonya relationship is killing this show

Oh man, this show has seriously tanked ever since they put Todd and Tonya together. Asha, who is a great character, doesn't even have a role in the show anymore. In the meantime, Tonya has no morals whatsoever and just corrupts everything Todd is trying to do. Simultaneously, Todd doesn't give a crap because all he cares about now is sex.

Honestly, do we have any reason to care about Tonya other than the fact that she's hot? She's been annoying, has no moral fiber, and is way too easy. I don't like her at all. This relationship is really hurting the show. I was hopeful that the fights in the last few episodes would ruin the relationship. It's time to eliminate this couple fast and get Asha back involved as the focal point.

The problem is that unlike their movie counterparts, Todd and Asha have zero chemistry. Todd and Tonya do. I liked when she revealed herself to Todd's brother when Todd's family was belittling him, for example. She has a heart, she's just a little more brazen.

I just think they need to develop Tonya more - Except for the episode where she tries to help Charlie become more likeable to women, she doesn't have an identity beyond her relationship with Todd. She needs to have more interactions with the other characters, and more of a personality and backstory. Otherwise, she's no more than one of the many random love interests who passed through Ross and Rachel on "Friends", which doesn't justify her presence in the opening sequence.

I totally agree with all your comments.

Asha has her beauty, but no chemistry with Todd. Tonya on the other hand has. A lot. I couldn't get it why Todd was attracted to Asha with Tonya walking around... Not to mention that part of the story didn't make much sense to me also because of Asha's character swings (not believable, Indian or not). The only explanation I could come up with was that Todd had enough of "white" girls (and maybe even some bad experiences with someone who looked a bit like Tonya), and was attracted to the exotic. But with no chemistry between them, even if they hooked up, it couldn't have evolved to a long term happy relationship.

Tonya needs a bit of moral guidance, but other than that, she's quite close to the perfect woman IMO (for Todd, and not only;). The lack of moral compass is more "thanks" to the writers though... I don't find her very believable in those situations. But she is believable in the situations where she shows her heart, her open mind, her generosity, her wit, etc.

The Todd/Asha relationship would have killed the show for me, and among the things that still spoils it is the fact that writers have them do things like stealing an employee from each other, like we had in ep.16. I mean, if a woman sacrifices her pride in order to protect/raise the pride of her man by doing what she did to reveal herself to the brother to shut his mouth, she must care about him too much to back-stab him in a cheap way later on stealing his employee (unless she does it to tease him, to put herself in a position that she has to promise to do a lot of things to "make up" for it, but that wasn't the case here)? And what man with such a generous woman next to him, also supposedly a "good guy" character, finds no better way to respond to that than a cheap, stupid revenge, which leaves them both with a problem?

Are you serious? I would choose Asha over Tonya any day.

What makes Asha such a great or better character? She kissed Todd and then acted like it never happened, going for the arranged marriage. I agree with the below poster that Todd and Asha have no chemistry. I can't see them together. And even aesthetically they don't look that great together. The actress who plays Asha is at least 32 years old, and the actor who plays Todd is 24. You can clearly see the age difference (I am NOT saying people with an age difference can't date, but it makes THESE TWO look less good together as a couple).

I think Todd and Tonya look great together. How does Tonya have no morals? How does she corrupt everything Todd is trying to do? Where is evidence for her lack of "moral fiber"? All I saw was a confident woman who expressed her interest in Todd. She's really frank and brash, which can be a bit much, but what terrible things has she done? She's the one who got upset with Todd because he wouldn't publicly take her out. She wanted a real relationship.

Asha bores me to death. This is probably partially due to the horrendous Indian accent and bland delivery given by the actress. Manmeet and Madhuri are way more entertaining.

I love Todd and Tonya! They are why I keep coming back to the show!

I do agree that Tonya needs to have a backstory. And wish Asha wasn't pushed into the background.
