The actors on the show don't look Authentic Indian?

I've only seen 1 episode of this show and it was on the other day on TV. Decided to check it out.

Anyway what i noticed is that there were alot of light skinned actors hired for this show that were wearing Darker make-up than their skin tone to make them look more Indian. I found that very weird.

I checked out the forum and found nobody made this topic. Did anyone else notice they did this??

Indians are dark and light skinned, they are pretty diversed... those actors weren't that light-skinned compared to what the actors of bollywood movies look like. It's because they have the whole cast-system, so mostly lighter skinned indians are seen on those movies, shows etc.

But since this was an american show the indians were average, and most of them are indians they were just born in the west or grew up in the west. I loved the cast and it sucks they canceled it. :(

If you meant that about people in the background, such as in the street scenes, then you're right. As for Indian characters in the show, they are indeed Indians. Not all Indians are dark-skinned, by the way.

We Indians come in all colours, shapes and sizes. To see an example of the fairer ones, Google... Aishwariya Rai, Hrithik Roshan.

There are dishy ones too : Google .... Salman Khan, John Abraham, Arjun Rampal, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan

As an Indian, I loved this show. Damn them for cancelling it. For all those who think it's racist, get a life and a sense of humour.
