Why is this movie rated so low?

I just finished watching the movie, expecting it to be horrendous, since it got a 3.3 on imdb and everyone seems to dislike it, but I actually enjoyed it! It is definitely a teenage chick flick, so obviously, I'm reviewing it based on it being in that genre. I thought it was much better compared to some other teenage chick flicks out there that can REALLY be bad. Some things I liked about the movie:

- Miley Cyrus was pretty good in it. I believed her in the role that she played.

- I loved Miley and Demi Moore's interaction. It was refreshing to see a loving, close relationship between a mother and daughter, rather than the empty cells that normally play teenager girls' mothers. I thought their relationship was very real, I bought it, and found myself wanting that same relationship with my mom. I also found myself hoping that I can have that with my own daughter someday. Their relationships with the grandma was really cute too.

- I liked the main character Lola's friendships as well, especially with Emily her best friend. And with Kyle, who is very hot. A requirement when it comes to chick flicks! The guys in question have to be hot!

- I really liked the music by the band her friends were in. I was surprised by this because when making a chick flick movie for teenage girls, producers or whoever don't usually put much time and effort in those "minor" aspects. I thought they did a good job though and I really liked the music they played! An added plus.

So whats the deal? Are people hating on it because Miley Cyrus is in it? Is it because people thought it was a pointless teenage chick flick? People should realize that when they rate movies, they have to rate it within the genre that it is in and take into consideration the movie's intended audience.
