primary problem this movie has...

dorothy returned to OZ 3 times before returning perminently to live in OZ, in fact later in the official continuity she returns to kansas briefly and starts rapid aging because she has lived in OZ for so long that her real age was catching up with her (cannot remember which, but it was one of thompsons books)... i'll definatly give this movie the benefit of the doubt and watch it, but it can never be anything but a complete alternate continuity

Who cares? This is movie about Oz. Official continuity? Do you listen to yourself?

It's called 'canon'. L. Frank Baum's world is cherished by millions & turds like this only demean it. Perhaps if someone messed with your precious 'Matlock', 'McGuyver' or whatever dross flicks your tiny switches, you'd be somewhat concerned too.

I have opinions of my own, but I don't always agree with them - George Bush

lol I don't think that it's the primary problem.....

What Jeesenger said. I watched the first part (Its being shown as a "Tv mini series in the UK). I really wanted to like it, but nearly everything about it irritated me on a supreme level.I watched it till the end of the first part determined to give it some time to settle down. A lot of the acting was terrible, I couldn't stand Dorothy. Even the way she looked was annoying, what was going on with her hair? Maybe I went into it it with expectations so high I could only be disappointed. I won't be watching the second part.

My wife gave up on it before the end of the first hour, but I want to hang on until I see Jeffrey Combs at least. And it has two hobbits in it.

Call me naive (c'mon, there must be someone out there ready to drip some invective?), but having a soft spot for the musical 'Wicked', and having read the Gregory Maguire book (two very different beasts), I kind of thought a film/series called 'The Witches of Oz' might be about Elphaba and Galinda/Glinda. This thing starts very confusingly, though. Did the Wicked Witch of the West die, as in the original film, and presumably the books? It isn't clear, with all the shenanigans about the book and the key. I want to see an Elphaba with a little depth, being a child of the Silver Age of Comics, when most of the villains had a rationale, and one man's terrorist was another man's freedom fighter, but I'm afraid I'm going to be disappointed...

Starredark, I know exactly where you are coming from. Maybe my main disappointment stems from being such a "Wicked" fan, and wanting to see more of Elphaba and Glinda, having seen their characters developped by Maguire.
